I spent about an hour on the phone today with a guy by the name of Michael Whitworth of Austin Automation, Inc. out of Austin, TX. He and the Texas High School Powerlifting Association have developed a real neat product that is of the "point and click" variety to run meets. This program is written for each organiztion (matching their weight classes, formulas, etc.). It will also includes an immediate post to the internet (at the Austin Automation Site). I t can also pull immediate copies to post after each flight finsihes lifting (and will tally team points and best lifter standings after each lift is done). We had a lengthy discussion about the need to make this information friendly to this web site.

The only drawback was that he wants $50.00 per meet to let me run this program. The liscense key will have to be reset prior to each meet. I told him about how many meets I will either run or help at and we agreed to negotiate a package deal. I told hime that most of our USAPL meets have not exceeded 50 lifters and that it would not be cost effective to pay this way. I would like to negotiate a cost based on the number of lifters or a yearly fee. It will be loaded on my laptop. I would like for Kory and/or Michelle Levatino to play with this program. If possible at the Gator Invite. Kory this would mean that I would pull you from judging if you could do it. We have a coach who will be doing this and I told him that I would like to have a couple of "Powerlifting" minded people playing with it too. He assured me that the results of one lift for a weight class of 35 lifters could be inputed in less than five minutes and print out generated in less than 8 minutes on a laser printer.
