The meet in Montgomery, Alabama (6/9/01) was real cool. Lifters came from North Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama.
Some great lifting was registered.

19 year old Casey Pellettier really wowed everybody. This kid was competing for the 2nd time ever and weighing in at 216 lbs. he squatted 600, benched 480 with ease, and deadlifted 600. He just missed a 630 squat and 640 deadlift.

I'm going to send this kid some real knee wraps. He was only wearing ace bandages and wrapped himself.

The womens classes were all filled by exclusively teenage aged lifters and masters aged lifters. They were all great and very competitive with each other which kept things very exciting.

43 year old Sharon Endress put on a great performance squatting 250 and just missing 295 after loosing her footing near the top and taking a small step which unfortunately dq'd that particular lift. She benched 165 and deadlifted 320 for a nice 735 total which put her in first place in the womens Over 148 class and the womens master class.

Another great female master lifter was 44 year old Susan Adkison who was lifting for the first time. She squatted 230, benched 130 and deadlifted 290.

18 year old Destiny Joyner competed in the womens under 148 class and the womens teenage. She squatted 280, benched 135, and deadlifted 320 for a 735 total. She took a 4th attempt with a 325 DL for a teen record which gave her a total record of 740.

More great female teenagers were 17 year old Raquel Stringer who weighed 120 and totaled 465, and 17 year old Kelly Johansen who totaled 525.

Just a brief outline of some of the other lifts because a full write up will be on the website soon.

18 year old Mark Barnes won the 148 class.

165 class was won by 42 year old Lynn Washington with a 1250 total.

Andy Phothisane took the 181's.

220's was a tight battle with Adam Smart, Jason Gomez, and Pat Watson battling it out for the top 3 spots. When the chalk cleared it was Watson with a 1500 total.

Barret Eastham took the 242's with a 660 squat, 460 bench, and 585 deadlift for a 1705 total and best lifter award.

Got to finally meet Bob Endress (he was in the 308's) and his lovely wife Sharon. Great people!

Special thanks to Tom Beale for bringing a great team of young (and very polite) teenagers all the way from Covington, LA.

The kids were a pleasure to be around. Each one of them had the attitude it takes to acheive and become a lifting success.

Tom is a great trainer and it showed with the great performance these young people did on the platform.
