My dear friends in Powerlifting,

Thanks you all for your thoughts in prayers during my recent illness.

I have been at home now for several weeks after spending five weeks in the hospital. As Paul said in his earlier note, I had a spinal fusion that was complicated by blood clots in my legs. I won't go into the details now but I hope to see you guys at a meet somewhere where I can fill you in.

How am I right now?
I am still wearing the "turtle shell" back brace for the fusion from which I hope to be out of soon (possible by the end of the month). I am still fighting the clots in that are in both legs with anti-coagulation medicine and diuretics. My legs are still swollen and are retaining fluid but I am able to get around. My endurance is low so I have been trying to walk as far as I can everyday to build myself back up.

If everything goes well I hope to be able to go back to work by the middle of August or early September.

Thanks again to all of you ... Powerlifters are the best people in the world,

Gerry Chidester
