Lexan construction using latex tubing for the "baser" bands. The tubing ends close on a polyurethane rod "for smooth releases and extra durability". High and low velocity bands available. Muzzle velocity quoted as 175 fps and a 70-80 foot maximum range. Availble with your name or initials in gold script on the side. comes with a logoed case and ammo. Wayne Arms Company, Overland Park, Kansas 66204. (913)341-0913. Looks like they were sold into the late 80's or so.
There's a write-up in Airgun Revue No. 4 with some more info. I wouldn't mind having a nice mint one of these with all the doodads. Claimed to be offered in the 1986 Beeman catalog. I haven't confirmed that. JB Jenkins

I have a mint condition rabaser pistol with original storage bag and 3 original baser ammuntions. The remainder of the basers have long ago disappeared due to breakage. The pistol is in prisitine condition with no marks or scratches whatsoever. The ammo is over 20 years old and will more than likely break if used; however, you should be able to remanufacture ammo using latex surgical tubing and weed eater trimming line? I am contemplating listing on ebay but am entertaining any reasonble offers beforehand. Email me back if you would like some pics or more info. Sincerely, Eric
Eric, Sorry I have not responded I was on vacation and didn't save the email you sent me and now it is gone. Please email a couple photos if you would. Thanks Rusty
Glad you liked my Rabaser Pistol. I invented it in about 1980 and sold it all over the world through the Wayne Arms Company. It was featured as the centerfold item in Playboy magazine's Christmas Gift Guide in 1981. The one pictured in the photos was a special order from A & F and had to have a special lable on it. In all, it was distributed by nine major catalogs. Rabasers were used by everyday people, movie stars and even used for training by SWAT teams. The velosity of the Baser ammo was about 175 ft per sec. I once killed a rat with one shot at 10 ft but the projectile wouldn't break a window shot at point blank range. An interesting weapon that I billed as the world's most powerful pistol that was safe and legal to shoot just about anywhere. Wayne Smith
Nothing like straight from the source for good information! I still have one of your glossy brochures for the Rabaser. Very nice concept and wonderful execution on the pistol itself. Thanks for coming by and sharing that information.
I appreciated seeing the message from the inventor of the Rabaser Pistol. I have one that is in mint condition but I do not have the Baser bands. Where can I get them?
Just go online and order 1/8" solid core urethane pulley belting, and 3/16" latex tubing(amber is the only color other than black).
Start with 2" clear urethane cord and 6" of latex tubing. Now mark a 1/4" on each end of the Urethane cord and use sandpaper to roughen it. Now I like to use thin cyanoacrylate glue, put a drop on the cord and insert into the latex tubing up to the 1/4" mark. Roll the joint between your fingers, checking for any gaps. Fill these gaps with cyano glue as needed.
Now just mark the center point on the band like the originals and you are done!! The local flies hate me now!!!
Good Luck!!

I just cleaned out my grandfathers attic and found the exact same rabaser as shown in the pics. And yes it is in mint condition with box and all the literature. The bands are all here and so are the little targets. But the heat has caused the bands to be brittle. I would also like info on new bands. What a beautiful piece this is.
Did you find someone selling new bands? I'm thinking of making my own but the min quantities to buy will mean I have a whole bunch of raw material left over.
I ran across my Rabaser pistol while unpacking some boxes. I hadn't seen it in about 19 years. Mine is all black with a red strip down the side and the word Rabaser written in gold letters above the trigger. The baser bands are no good but I hope I can get them replaced in Overland Park. I live about 50 miles from there. Anyway, good site! Glad I found it!
Mr Smith, an honor. I loved the Rabaser I had in the 80s. I've always believed it was stolen by my girlfriend after an errant shot hit her square in the ass. I've spent many hours lamenting it's dissappearance. 25 years later I found a beauty on ebay, including 2 bags of basers. Dried out of course. I am trying to recreate some basers.
My trials have produced some nice ones. None that seem to have the POP I remember from my original. Any tips from the inventor would be appreciated. Tubing type and dimensions or even the manufacturer. Thanks for creating such an entertaining weapon
.
I have one with various bands in plastic bags with a silicone patch to lubricate them, both regular and hi-speed, none of which I would trust. I tried a few, and the clear plastic part cracked.
It is in the original box with instructions and all paperwork, and in the fleece "holster" it came in.
In very good condition, with a few very minor nicks, and a small, soft frosting at the nose from the band.
If this interests you, give me a buzz.

on occasion I have seen them pop up on GunBroker or Auction Arms. There was one for sale in this forums For Sale section, sometime back. Don't know if he ever sold it or not.

I sent him an email the same as when I posted but haven't heard back. Do you have a rabaser? Are you making bands. I found the instructions "makie your own bands" to be slightly flawed. The recommended tubing diameter was off a bit. I am attempting to reverse engineer from the few bands I have but to get anything other than amber tubing I have to buy about 300'. Needless to say that will leave me with a little extra. If I can find other interested in sharing the cost it wouldn't be so bad. You can email me direct at mweckwerth@larkin-grp.com.
I also have a mint Rabaser with the holster, paper work and a foam case I made it for it. Unfortunately, all the bands broke as I tried it just the other day. I looked on Google and got this site. Do you think anyone would be interested in it?
