Here are some pictures of the RG 100.

Pull cocking handle back install the rubber bands and each time the trigger is pulled it fires one. It is very well made and screws together. Included is a picture of the box for the rubber bands produced for this gun. The box is in rough condition and the bands I am using are not original.

"Someday, every airgun in your collection is going to belong to someone else. You only "own" them for a brief period, and then ther're on the block once again. Don't fret about this- it's how you got them in the first place. Think about it." Tom Gaylord Airgun Review #2 page 86.

rg 100 rubber band gun

October 21 2007, 6:13 PM

your photos don't work anymore, I'd love to see what you have and know where you got it from.

Just looking to see if I could purchase an RG 100 rubber band gun and saw your question from more than a year ago.

I actually do know more than a little about them. My uncle, who is now deceased, was the inventor/patent holder. The RG 100 were sold at high end sporting goods stores like abercrombie and fitch(when they actually sold sporting goods in the early to mid 1970's) It was a popular toy that was gaining popularity rapidly until a famous, Boston area law firm put the gun on the worst toy list that they published each year(war toys weren't popular since it was at the height of vietnam war and the RG 100 was almost the same length as an M-16 rifle)

Manufacturing stopped, the patent was sold and the RG 100 was finished.

I have been told by realitives that there was at one time a storage facility filled with them, but have never heard anything since.

I have only seen 4 color variations: black, red, yellow and see through or clear

It has been years since I have seen an original box, but I do recall them having instructions, a cardboard target and at least 2 boxes of the special rubber bands.

They were extremely well made. I'm 36 years old and I remember having the guns my entire life, through countless basement battles with all of the neighborhood kids shooting it out... They still work today just as they did 30 something years ago.

And something else that is unreal... I still have an original case of specially made rubber bands and they still work like new. How in the heck does a rubber band last 30 something years???

Hope this is helpful... let me know if you ever find any additional info or a lot for sale...

RG100

April 5 2009, 3:43 PM

I have one of the RG100 automatic rubber band gun and the original box it came in. Addionally - I have a few of the orignal bands too. They are brittle and not very capable of use. My son loves this gun. It is well made and a quality product. The gun is in good condition, except that one of the white platic clips that holds the rubber bands on, is broken. Other than that - it is in good condition... If anyone knows where I can find another one - please let me know.

thanks,

dave
