you could look in the papers for adds for apartments for lease and or if it's kiev go to kiev railway station as there are people who frequent this place offering their flat/apartment for various periods of time.

I spent 3 days (the last 3 of a six week visit in Kiev) and originally we were going to stay in a hotel but my wife contacted a woman who offers her flat for rent that he parents have used. We met her at the station. It cost 30 USD For the 3 nights - 2 Bedroom apartment with bathroom , toilet, kitchen etc
There were people there offering flats / apartments for all different periods of time and if you can barter or know someone who knows any of these people i am sure you can get one.
