Is there's anyone willing to share a car trip to Chernovtsy from Boryspil airport on September 11th, let me know to my personal e-mail. If you have any friends coming to Boryspil on that day, and going to Chernovtsy (or any other Western Ukrainian city, which is on the way to Chernovtsy), a discounted car ride will be available.

Hello:
I'm planning a trip in 2001 to Chrenovtsi. I'd like to know what your impressions of the trip are and what are the pitfalls that one should avoid, etc.
I'd appreciate a line, please
Thank you.
Ben

Hi Ben, I have been to Chernosty four times. The first time was in August 1992 prior to the breakup of the Soviet Union. At that time, all travel was arranged by Intourist. We were able to fly to Kiev and then on to Chernosty. Although, I would not recommend flying on Aeroflot.
The next three times, were much more difficult to get to Chernosty. One time, I flew to Kiev and took an overnight train to Chernovsty. The next two times, I flew into Llov and my cousin picked me up and we drove to Chernovsty. It is a long drive, five hours one way with no restaurant or rest stops.
Chernovsty is a beautiful city and I enjoyed my time there. I have a cousin who owns several restaurants there. He is a great tour guide. I also have family in Khotin, a small village not too far from Chernovsty.
When are you going and do you have family there?

Hi Barbra:
Thanks very much for your reply.
I'm glad you like the city - I was actually born there. We are also considering going to Lvov - my wife's birthplace (on a European airline) and driving to Chernovtsi. I've done that some 30 yrs ago - the trip then took 4hrs - I guess the roads have deteriorated.
Have you had an occasion to stay in any hotels? Is there any crime that a tourist should be concerned about?
How did you get to Khotin - my parents are from there, so I'll go there and a few other places n the vicinity.
Thank you.
Ben.

We are planning a trip to Czernovits next summer. My wife was born there and lived in the city until about the age of 9. She would also like to visit some of the nearby villages and also perhaps the graveyards of relatives. She left right after the war.
Can you give us any advice about getting there, safety, where to stay etc.
Any help would be appreciated.
Milton Taylor
