I can't for the life of me see Chapple allowing anyone else that role if Scotty still has the use of his legs. He's a man who trusts what he knows, until he absolutely has to do different.
It's possible that McFlynn might be very good in that role (unlikely, but possible). But for Chapple, that isn't the issue.
