of not letting the supporters know anything about the incomming and outgoing Players. What's happening about transfer fees re. Huckerby, D'sane and Webber and any other surprise signings that just might turn up for the next match?? Seems like they're (Wokinf F.C.) trying to hide the facts so we won't notice they're throwing money away again.
So what's going on ??!! Put us in the Picture.
That is unfair to have a go at Paul White like that. He can only put on there what he is informed of and don't overlook the fact that he does the work in his own time. If the players were signed on Friday afternoon, for example, how do you expect him to know the full details?
I don't know when the players (D'Sane and Webber) were signed or the in's and out's of those that have gone on loan either.
What do you mean about chucking money away? Those out on loan are being paid for by the clubs they are playing at (50% in case of Huckerby I understand).
I suspect you will also find some directors unaware of the latest signings. As Paul says all information given will be published. It is not unusual for press releases to be issued before staff at the club are told.
If Woking's Official Site works in the same way at Yeovil's does, then the fault will almost certainly be either the Woking press office for not sending out a press release when they should, or with the first team manager for not informing the press officer. Unfortunately, in my experience, football managers are more inclined to pick up the phone and talk to the press than to pick up the phone and talk to their own press officer. An official site (or at least one run on the same terms as Yeovil's) can't print something that hasn't been sanctioned by the press office - in the case of Yeovil's as the press officer is on email, 95% of the time all we are doing is a cut and paste of whatever he sends us - i.e. we're technicians, not publicists.
in spite of what you say and those that follow, I feel Paul should inform the team manager and other folks "in the know" that the internet is the only way for some of us in far flung reaches of the world to know what the hells going on re. team transfers etc.
Don't forget we don't have the News and Mail, and we don't know anyone at the Club who can spread Info (or rumours) as you obviously do. You mention Players out on loan....where did you pick that up from ? I certailanly did'nt see it on the official site. So you see this site and the official site are the ONLY means of info we have about our team.
My appologies to Paul White if he took offense, and thanks to him for his efforts.
Steve
Thank you for your comments, I can say things are improving (slowly). I have run a site for the club for about 6-7 years now (officially about 4 years) and trying to get information is very difficult, even for those who work at the club. I usually turn up at the ground 12:30 - 1pm on Saturdays to try and get information, although again I am not always informed of possible signings. Plus I don't leave the ground until gone 6pm (not always in the bar as well).
Things are changing though but the main problem is changing the culture within the club. For the last xx number of years managers/directors phone the press. I do receive Press Releases via fax (at home) but if no official press release is issued then usually I don't know. This will be the same at most clubs our size, and I would agree with Badger. I am a web developer, that is my full time job. But I also interview Geoff/Colin/players/directors, write the match reports, try and write pre-views of games, think up competitions, oh and spend a few minutes each day with my wife and 3 kids.
I have setup admin screens for people within the club to update news themselves, however, they have their own jobs to do. I would like to thank everyone at the club for their help (especially Jan, Jenny, Sue and now Ralph).
Things are changing not just online but generally within the club and people are realising how important the internet is.
This is hopefully not a moan, I have done a lot of that in the past and would just like to thank everyone (again) for all their help.
