Please use what you have around you Woking

As dissapointing as Saturday was what did we really expect? Boston are on fire this season and if we are honest how we did not get an absolute tonking at home against them earlier this season is still baffling.

We have spent heavily on quality players this season only for others to under perform or suffer badly from injury. We have in Patmore Griffin and Sharpling 3 quality forwards who can and have won games for us in the past, it is no good however if the rest of the team play like total strangers.

The coaching at this football club leaves a lot to be desired and it is finally beginning to show on the pitch. I can see why players quickly become frustrated because there really does not appear to be a game plan, this is never more illustrated than at away games.

Common sense is not one of this clubs best features and with that in mind do we think that a training day for the players has been set up for our free saturday? If not why not?

We have the potential to climb the table and do well in the trophy but do our players have the stomach for a battle? Time after time not taking care of the basics has cost us dear.Crosses ,Passing, movement, even the teams we have played from the ryman have managed to string 5-6 passes together.

We have a good relationship with Fulham now ,so why not use it to our advantage and ask them for some coaching help or Goalkeeping advice for Tucks. Please can some one show a little common sense for once. Please do not wait till another problem kicks you up the arse Woking. On the commercial and financial sides the club has to be applauded for its realistic and tough approach to what is turning out to be another difficult season. I hope this comes across as constructive critcism and not a rant as the main purpose of this is really to grasp whats around us and use it to good effect.

Lets give Graham Westley a miserable Christmas and New Year, that's a thought that everyone can enjoy!!

COME ON YOU CARDS

"Like total strangers"

...and they were, literally. Steve Perkins (our best player on Saturday, in my opinion) and Junior Kadi (who gave everything, and got himself injured) will have never played with Lloyd Webber or Roscoe DSane before.

I agree with everything you have said but I suspect that the training day (a great idea)will not happen, and neither will the GK coaching/Fulham thing, despite the fact that TT is of course from Fulham FC originally.

If I was a Woking player I really wouldn't have a clue what was going on. Will I be picked for the next game? What position/formation will I be expected to play in? Who will be around me?

So much uncertainty, and it shows. PLEASE get a game plan and a formation, Geoff - and stick to it (I bet we will revert to 5-3-2 on Boxing Day with Scott Steele available again).

Er....

Jones?? Are you sure?? He was a pedestrian midfield stroller who did very little except hit the odd telling pass. He used to get booed when his name was read out, which I thought was unfair but let's be honest - he was almost Phil Gridelet (without the arrogance perhaps).

Pedestrian but not without a clue

It does show what I mean though.Even though Jones was all the things you say and worse he still managed to end up on the winning side more than our current crop.

Still I only offered 50 quid as that midfield must be close to having a combined age of 120 or thereabouts.

The thing is ...

I expect you know how greatly I admire Andy Ellis (and Thommo, still going strong!).

However, you can only blame our current players to a certain extent. The team (midfield in particular) has been chopped and changed since the start of the season and I think the only constant in the middle has been Barry Moore, apart from when he was suspended. And he was dropped on Saturday!

I thought Junior did well on Saturday, and then he went off injured (again). I wonder if he was fully fit? Webber started quite well and then in the second half looked like he was out of his depth. I think that putting him into the side like that (against the top team in the division!) was asking too much of him. People from the Rymans Prem have found it hard to make the step up - the Wessex league is two leagues below that...

On Boxing Day I expect the formation to change again to accomodate the returning Scott Steele. My point is that although I'm not trying to make excuses for the players, this must be terribly unsettling for them - from week to week they don't know if they'll be playing (if Moore can get dropped then surely anyone can!), what formation they will be in, what position, and with whom. I think that good teams are built on good understanding and partnerships between players and I just can't see how our players can be expected to form these when it's ever-changing.

As Mike said earlier, we need to be getting settled, not experimenting. I don't think the players know whether they're coming or going - and can you blame them? I know that they have all underachieved to a degree, but I don't think this constant change is doing anyone any good.

Spot on Beck

You're spot on Beck about the need for a settled side. When I think about it we've really struggled to create a settled side in the last 2/3 years, often due to rash transfer dealings in the summer which require replacing by Xmas.

I thought he went off with a bout of cramp, not an injury.

Or is cramp an injury ?
