I am surprised that not many people have mentioned how well Dave Piper played on Boxing Day. I thought he was excellent.

Was it just me???

Reminds me off.....

December 28 2001, 4:54 PM

....I just know I'm going to get some falk for this, but some of his runs and attacking play remind me of a chap we used to know called Kevin Betsy......I think, at times, Piper has excellent changes of speed and the ability to take a player on to AND provide a good final ball through.....he doesn't go for the goal like Betsy did (anyone remembe his goal against Halifax in a 2-2 at home?), but he does track back well (unlike Betsy).......Piper is one of those anonymous players....puts in the work, but hardly ever gets noted for it......kind of like Darron Wilkinson.......

I'll get my coat before people start pelting me with rotten fruit!

;-P

Darren

Darren is currently playing at Slough Town. Last season Darron had to perform as a emergency goalkeeper for the Slough after Steve Mautone (their goalkeeper) was sent off against Harrow and despite slough losing 1-0, you would not have known Steve was not in goal as Darron played really well.

(As you can tell i mostly copied that from this site.....)

Farnborough message board

December 28 2001, 6:11 PM

I was just reading through the boro message board and their still going on about how stupid the ref was on boxing day. I gave them a peace of my mind and told them handing out yellow cards like that is called consistancy (which i think it was). I also thought that each and everyone of their players deserved their yellow/red cards.
Overall i felt that the referee has a good game.
They were also going on how they 'gifted' the first 2 goals to us. I told them that we worked bloody hard for those fully deserved goals.
Ive never known a bunch of fans moan like they are.

They're not the worst, Gareth

One of the Aldersh*t websites is quite dreadful. Every win is portrayed as yet more evidence, if the World really needed convincing, of Aldersh*t's imminent rise to the Premiership. Every loss, every card, is attributed to poor officiating, bad luck, dirty opponents etc etc..

It makes the Farnbore message board seem like the apex of balanced comment!

Two off

December 28 2001, 8:05 PM

Farnborough should have had two plyers sent off in the first half .
Number 7
Number 4
Yes you are right none consistant referee.
Good goals, should have been more, due to very, very,
very poor defending by the Farnborough defence.
Woking better team on the day, can only improve.
