Who is our best player?

I'd say Warren Patmore, and potentially - in a couple of years - Chris Sharpling will be up there too.

I'm very worried about our best defender, Mr Paul Steele. I do hope he wasn't rushed back too soon.

Interestingly...

I like Moore a lot and he is my player of the season so far but he has been a bit out of sorts lately. All players go through bad patches of course, but although I rate Moore very highly for all sorts of reasons I don't think he's quite in the same class as Wazza or Sharps.

The combination of Warren's experience and goalscoring ability just makes him ooze class, in my opinion. I think I may have been premature in saying that he & Chris could not play together because on Boxing Day both of Chris's goals involved Warren.

PIPER.

Ok, does not set the world on fire (every minute of the game) but he is an excellent team player, can make the difference on many occasions, keeps himself fit.

I like Piper a lot, and I think he is very underrated by a surprising number of people.

I know of one or two people who think he's a liability actually. Me - I'm not sure really. He hasn't quite lived up to what I was expecting of him yet.

All things considered, I think Warren Patmore must be our best player, when you look at both his current form and past record. Do you know - I've just remembered the first time I saw him play - for Yeovil v Chertsey Town at Alwyns Lane.

Do i watch the same games as everyone else?

Piper?

He has been our worst player of the season.

His inability to get forward coupled with his abysmal positional play in defence...and overall lack of presence has often left us carrying him for most of the game.

Did any of you see him at Boston? The left winger must have thought all his birthdays had come at once

I have to say i agree i was all for bringing Charlie in to play with Sharpee but seeing Patmore and Sharpee onm boxing day they do play well alongside each other, mind you i would still like to see Charlie play with Sharpee again.

Patmore

January 3 2002, 2:15 AM

Warren Patmore gets my vote. He ooozes class!

I think Scott Smith has played very well since he has come back into the side.

Piper has been pretty consistent too.

I thought that Barry Moore had shone like a beacon while others around himn struggled up until a few games ago, but he seems to have become a little unsettled with the recent changes. Hope he recaptures his best form soon.

Best wishes and a happy New Year to all!

Chris C

Patmore

January 3 2002, 10:00 AM

Interesting. A few weeks ago everyone was well prepared to sell Patmore as he didn't fit in to the team. Isn't is easy to forget just how good he is. I would rate Patmore and Smith miles above the rest of the team at the moment. I hope Sharpling has it in him, but hasn't shown it at all since signing. Lets hope Patmore doesn't go back to Yeovil.

Although Barry Moore has had great spells of performance Warren is just that cut above. Even when he is haing a bad run (not that he has had a major one yet) his touch is always spot on and his awareness and alertness is awesome not to mention his finishing. He is without doubt a Football League quality striker and we are very lucky to have him.
