George C. KEY - Climmie WALTON Marriage

by

George Clemons KEY was enumerated on the Jackson County, AL Federal Census in June 1880, Township 4 Range 6, as living with his parents George Washington and Mary Bryant Webb KEY.

George Clemons KEY married Climmie (Clementine?) WALTON, daughter of John F. and Lucinda Erwin WALTON.

The date of the marriage is estimated to be between June 1880 (date of Census enumeration when George C. was living with his parents) and before December 1882 which was the date on which Climmie gave birth to her first daughter, Viola Priscilla KEY, in Scottsboro.

I am trying to trace the birth date and marriage date of Climmie Walton KEY who is my great grandmother.

Neither Climie, nor her parents John F. or Lucinda Erwin WALTON appear on the 1870 or 1880 Census of Alabama or Tennessee. I find them in McMinn County, TN on the 1860 Census. They had their first two children, Alfred and Sarah living with them at that time. The next time I find John F. and Lucinda Erwin WALTON is on the 1900 Census of Tarrant County, TX. Lucinda is recorded as having had 6 children, three living in 1900 and three dead.

I can identify two of the living children: Alfred and Sarah who also appear on the 1900 Tarrant County Census. I can identify one dead child, my great grandmother Climmie Walton KEY who died shortly after she gave birth to my Grandmother Forthie KEY on 04 July 1884.

I am trying to identify the one additional living child as well as the two children who died prior to 1900. I do not know when John F. and Lucinda Erwin Walton left Alabama for Texas. I am assuming that they were in Alabama when daughter, Climmie Walton, was married.
