Note: Mary was not listed with them on the 1860.

A J. Shankle age 20-30 is listed on the 1840 De Kalb Co. Living next to him is a G. S. Shankle age 30-40, likely John's brother. G. S. is not on the 1850 but there is an Elizabeth Shankles age 42 b. TN and her 13 children, she is likely G. S.'s widow. G.S. could be either George S. or Green S. as she has children with both names.
