Larkinsville CemeterybyIs this cemetery online so we can see who all are buried there and if not do you know how to get to it please send direction |
Larkinsville cemeterybyMichele, I havent had any luck finding it online, but I have been there recently. It's west of Scottsborough Alabama about ten miles. there are no signs to Larkinsville but the cemetery is a few blocks west of the town under some big oak trees. Just ask someone in town if you can't find it. Good luck! Gary |
Re: Larkinsville cemeterybyFrom Hwy 72 take 79 North until you come to the intersection of 73 and 35. Take a left 35. There will be a turn off on your right to Larkinsville. You will go over some serious railroad tracks. The very small town is right over the tracks and the cemetery is behind the town on the west side. At this point if you see someone outside you might want to get them to point you in the right direction. If not the cemetery is just outside of the little town on the south west side. It's a beautiful cemetery and worth seeing. |
Larkinsville CemeterybyHas anything been posted or published listing names in this cemetery? |
Re: Larkinsville CemeterybyLittle confusing but Larkinsville Cemetery is also called Blue Springs Cemetery but there is another newer Blue Springs Cemetery nearby. This is the Larkinsville one. http://files.usgwarchives.org/al/jackson/cemeteries/bluesprings.txt |
Tribbles in LarkinsvillebyGary: Benjamin and Nancy C. Tribble were the foster parents of my grandmother, Janettie (various spellings)Tribble. Benjamin is buried in the Larkinsville Cemetery. I believe their older son, William and William's wife, Jane Elizabeth Radford Tribble are also buried there. I have a great deal of information on that family - however I am forever seeking the identity of my grandmother's biological parents whose surname of Rogers/Rodgers is the only known factor. Grandma was born in Knoxville, TN, but somehow ended up as an infant or small child being fostered by the Tribbles. She used that surname up until her marriage. I do not know of an existing marker for Benjamin, but I do have the birth and death dates of Benjamin and Nancy Tribble. If you want to contact me, my name is Sharon and my email is: jenlou@wi.rr.com. |
TribblesbySharon, Thanks for responding! I apologize for being so late. My grandma was Mabel tribble who is buried in the Larkinsville cemetery with her parents and brother and sister. My sister Carol has all our information on who everyone is. You could call me toll free at my business if you like and maybe some how we can get some answers! Gary 888-890-9800 Thanks! |
CALVIN ELLEDGEbyCALVIN ELLEDGE WAS IN JACKSON CO ALA 1860 CENSUS. MAY HAVE HAD A BROTHER AND SISTER TOO BUT NOT SURE. CALVIN IS IN MAKANDA, JACKSON CO ILL 1850 CENSUS LIVING WITH HIS UNCLE AND GRANDMA. CALVIN SHOWS b 1828 ALA. IN CENSUS. I SURMISE CALVIN'S MOTHER WAS A BIGGS GIRL, MARRIED TO AN ELLEDGE MALE. CALVIN'S UNCLE AND GM WERE JOSEPH ba 1815 TN AND NANCY ba 1782 NC, BIGGS, WHO ARE IN THE 1840 AND 1830 CENSUS'S JACKSON CO ALA. ALSO DONT KNOW NANCY'S HUSBAND'S FIRST NAME, BUT WOULD LIKE TO. DAN BIGGSIDAHOFALLS@AOL.COM |
CALVIN ELLEDGEbyI strongly suspect CALVIN ELLEDGE was the son of Joseph and Malinda Elledge who moved (before 1830) from Warren Co, TN (from area which became Cannon Co, TN in 1836) to Jackson County, AL. Joseph Elledge died in 1848 and Malinda died in 1851, according to Friendship Baptist Church minutes. According to the 1840 Jackson Co, AL census, Joseph and Malinda Elledge had 4 or possibly 5 sons and possibly 2 daughters. Two sons (Leander and Alvey Elledge) moved to Madison Co, AL, after their parents' death. Joseph Elledge was the son of Whitefield and Rachel Elledge, Sr. who married on Oct 29, 1792,in Wilkes Co, NC, and moved to Kentucky shortly after their marriage. Whitefield and Rachel Elledge, Sr. are also the parents of my ancestress, Jane (Jenny) Elledge who marrried James Campbell circa 1812-1813 in Warren Co, TN, and moved to Jackson Co, AL, in the early 1820s with the Elledge clan. Whitefield Elledge, Sr. was the son of Isaac and Jenny (Linn) Elledge who lived in Wilkes Co, NC, before they migrated to Kentucky. Isaac Elledge was the son of old Joseph Elledge and was born in Maryland. Old Joseph Elledge moved his family from Maryland to Wilkes Co, NC, and he died there in 1797. |

Tiffin/Cunningham/Barclay/Hodges/HollisbyWould like to find someone who has pictures of any of the following families..Tiffin, Cunningham, Barclay, Hodges, Hollis..they lived in the Woodville area, Scottsboro area.. Thanks. |
pictures/Hodges.......byI found a really good collection of pictures of the old families hanging in the Trading Post right where you turn into Cathedral Caverns in Kennamer Cove, close to Woodville. One was of my grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Hodges, and most of her siblings as kids in front of Mt. Olive School. Obviously most of the students at that time were Hodges. They really have a great collection if you live close enough to visit the Trading Post. Do you know of a Mary Jane Cunningham who married Will Mack Pendergrass and lived in Limrock, AL? Their son,my grandfather, Bud Pendergrass, was born there in 1888. |
Jane Stegall - Exie HodgesbyMy wife is the great great grand daughter of Jane Stegall through her first marriage to James Madison Hampton. Her great grandfather was Hurshel Hardy Hampton, who was born in Scottsboro, AL. I am looking for any information on Jane Stegall mother of Exie Hodges (Hurshel's half sister). She was said to be born in Oct 1856 in Alabama. She married (1) James M. M. Hampton (son of Chapley Hampton of Jackson County, AL). When she married James Hampton, she listed her maiden name as Letitia Jane Stewart. She married (2) Charles Morgan Stegall in 1885 (she used the name Jane Hampton). Charles and Jane had four children; Arlie Tarrant Stegall, Nancy Stegall, Exie Stegall and Annie L. Stegall. Exie married Alvi Hodges. Following the death of Charles Morgan Stegall, Jane Stegall lived with her daughter Exie and son in law Alvi Hodges (at least through the 1930 census). Jane Stegall was said to have died in 1943 and is buried in the Paint Rock Cemetery. I have made two inquiries on death certificates for Jane (Stewart) (Hampton) Stegall with the State of Alabama, but the State of Alabama says they have no death record for Jane Stegall. It is possible that someone in the Hodges family may have the Stegall family bible, or have some information on the death of Jane Stegall since Jane lived with the Hodges. My wife's grandmother talked about Jane possibly dieing in Texas, but I can't find anything there yet either. Alvi Hodges is suppossed to have died in Chattanooga, TN. Alvi and Exie are both buried in the Union Cemetery in Woodville, AL. Also looking for verification that Jane had two Hampton sons James Madison Hampton Jr and Hurshel Hardy Hampton. My wife's grandmother talked about her father Hurshel having a brother James Madison Hampton, but nobody else seems to know about him. Any help would b appreciated. |
