by

My relatives are listed in the 1880 census, living in the Township of Boyds Switch, and managing a hotel. Does anyone recognize where this would be in modern day Jackson county? I would like to find an old graveyard near there.

Thanks for any help. Linda Egan

Standishes on Porters Bluff

by

I am researching for any info linked to my great-grandfather Samuel Standish who lived and died (1909)on Porters Bluff, in Jackson County. I have found no record of death. I would like to spend my fourth of July vacation in the area researching. Coming from Kansas City, and being a long journey, does anyone know what places would be open that I might be able to research records.
We are a direct descendent lineage to Captain Miles Standish. I have put together a large family book, and have hit a dead end with my great uncle Myles Standish (Samuel's son)who died September, 1934. He had a son Allan who was listed on his death certificate as undertaker, along with Mr George Davis, Long Island.
Allan had a sister Margaret (who I know married a dairy farmer named Koontz) from old family letters.
I also have letters pertaining to a fire on Porters Bluff (at the home of Henry Porter) where men were hung to death for their arsen. Samuels sister Susan Z Standish lived there also.
I would feel blessed if anyone could help with any information.
Thank you, Deborah Cook

Carroll

by

I am looking for any information on the Carroll Family of Jackson Co., AL. There were some Carrolls in the early census of Jackson Co., Al. My great granfather James M.Carroll was raised in Jackson Co. Al. born 1815 in TN. This was in his pension papers for Service in the Florida War. So I believe that one of the Carrolls listed in 1830 census of Jackson Co. would be his father. Thanks for any information, Charline

Ellison and Hannah GOFF family

by

Has anyone been researching the Ellison GOFF family? I first find him in the 1830 census,Jackson County.
Hannah is evidently widowed by the 1840 census.
Does anyone know some of the childrens names of this family?
There are 9 listed in the 1850 census, but I feel there is more.
Possibly an Andrew Goff.
Does anyone have any extra information?
Thanks!!

Looking For Birth father (Roger Dale Bell)

by

I am looking for my birth father Roger Dale Bell. My mom's name at the time was Diana Lee Jones. She had a daughter with Terry Lee Jones. I was conceived with Roger when Terry was in jail. Roger has 2 son's and a wife at the time named Gaylon Bell. I am 26 and have been looking for him for some time with no luck. His parents lived in Dutton, Al. He was from the mountain. I would just like to hear his voice and know what he looks like. My father Tom Dolberry adopted me when I was 2, I wasn't told till I was 14 he was not my father. This is the only piece of my life that is missing. If any can help, please email me @ cdorsett2005@hotmail.com. I know that he is in his 50's and rented the sand mountain speedway from 1977-1979. If any one can help it would be a blessing. I just want to know the man who gave me life.

Thank you,
Celeste D. (jones) (dolberry) Dorsett
