Thank you so much for the information on Tabitha Young Bynum. I show Isaac Bynum Jr. as the father of Isaac Newton Bynum and Tabitha Young as the mother. Apparently she died young at 47 but they had many children. Mary E. Bynum, the eldest married my great grandfather John Calhoun Tinney. If you come up with anything else, please don't hesitate to email me at wtmj@charter.net. Thank you for everything.

Bynum

by

I am trying to research my Bynum ancestors. All I know is:
Cynthia Kessiah Bynum was born in Blount County, Alabama. (1840's)??? She married John Madison Chaney.
Their son, Isaac Newton Chaney, was born April 1, 1856 in Hart County Kentucky. I am guessing that Cynthia K. Bynum was born in the 1840's. I can't seem to find her or the correct family line. Any help would be appreciated.

Isaac Bynum and Tabitha Young Bynum is my GG Grandparents. I have spent better than 30 years researching my maternal and paternal lines. So I suppose I am as close to any so called expert on the Bynum's of Jackson County, Alabama.

Isaac Newton and Mary Bynum

by

I show a connection to Isaac Newton Bynum. I suppose Tabatha died and then on August 12, 1888 Isaac married
Nancy (Josie) Josephene Cunningham, Now Aunt Josie was a sister to my grandfather. Harrison Macon Cunningham. They had no children.
Now Harrison Macon Cunningham first Married Sarah Margaret Card and after her death he married
Mary Bynum. They had 3 children Retia,Bd November 10, 1904 and Vula Pearl ,April 22, 1907 and finally: Harrison Macon Cunningham,Jr. bd.February 08, 1909.
My question is; Were Isaac and Mary brother and sister? I have no parents listed for either Bynum.
I descend from Sarah Margaret Card and Harrison Macon Cunningham. Aunt Josie lived with us in her old years until she died.

Dulaney & Durham

My ancestors were in Jackson County. Nelson Dulaney is my great-great-grandfather. He married Elmina Durham of Larkinsville in 1851. She is the daughter of Isaiah Durham. Nelson and Elmina had one child, Montgomery, who died and is buried there. They moved to Texas and had several other children.

I have a Bible record with Durham, Dulaney, and Green names and dates. One of the names is Alexander Dulaney.

I need further information. Thanks!

RE: Picture of Wilbanks, Wright, Womack

by Mark Klan

Jan -

I am *very* interested in your picture with the names Mollie Wilbanks, Willie Wright, and Tennie Womack.

My great-grandmother on my mother's side was born Flora Tennessee Willbanks (or Wilbanks) -- her married name was Womack and she went by "Tennie" or "Tenie". The Tennie Womack in your picture is likely her! She is buried in Jernagin/Johnson cemetary in Jackson Cty. According to the grave marker, Tennie (Willbanks) Womack was born Dec. 15, 1883, and died June 15, 1946. But US Census records indicate she was born around 1878. Tennie had a sister born around 1879 named Willie Willbanks. It's possible that the "Willie Wright" in your picture is Tennie's sister, with Wright her married name.

Although I've been a member of the Yahoo Group in Jackson County Geneaology for several years, I just today discovered this network54.com forum on Jackson, and I was really excited to see your post.

I'd be very appreciative if you would contact me here or at my email address (msk "at-sign" knology "dot" net). Any additional info you could provide would be great. Perhaps I could also get a scanned image file of the photo via email or a hard-copy such as they can make at Walgreens, etc. I'd be more than happy to pay you for all costs you incur.

Holder & Brazell Families

by

Hi,
As you will be able to tell, I was married to Paul Thomas Steele,a grandson of John Holder Thomas. This is a work in progress. It is based not only on my research but the research of many other generous people all researching the same line. Please note that some of the information contained here is based on logical assumptions and not actual fact. Patty Woodall, a part of this family has a saying: Genealogy with out documentation is mythology. name spelling error & family history information

by

Let me introduce myself to you. I am the oldest daughter of Adril Lindsay Wright mentioned above. The correct spelling for his middle name is with an 'a', not an 'e' as you have it spelled above. The following information is what I know of our family history.

My paternal grandfather's name was Elmer Lindsay Wright. His mother's name was Belle Lindsay & she married a Wright, but I don't know what his first name was. I don't know the birthdate of my grandfather, but he died on December 25, 1971, in a Scottsboro, AL nursing home. He had a brother named Oakland and a sister named Mabel, who married a Starkey. I don't know how many other brothers & sisters he had besides those two just mentioned.

Elmer Lindsay Wright married Mary Permelia Watson, my grandmother, and she died in July, 1970, at her home in the Aspel Community, west of Scottsboro, AL. There was a large number of children in my grandmother's family, but unfortunately, I do not know all of their names. I do know that some of her brothers' names were Milton, Mose (or Moses?), Minus, and some of her sisters' names were Mabel, Bertie, and Ella.

My father has one sister still living and her name is Opal Peters. She lives in Huntsville, AL. She knows a lot more family history on both the Wright and Watson sides than I do. I would love to be able to go visit her & get as much family history from her as I can while she still has the good and alert mind that she does because she is 92 years old. Unfortunately, I am not able to accomplish this task because I live in Rochelle, IL and my vehicle is too old to make a trip of that distance.

If you would like more information on my family, please feel free to email me at: deshler@dialdna.com.

Since you mentioned that my father taught you and I noticed that you have 'Dr' in front of your name, it has aroused my curiosity and I wonder, if by any chance, you happen to be a dentist and if so, did you have a dental practice in Anniston, AL, in 1965-1966? When you respond to this letter, I will tell you the reason why I ask these questions.

Sincerely,

Rossalynn W. Vandiver

Ardel/Ardill Wright

by

This is probably your Ardel/Ardill on the 1860 Madison Co. AL Census

South Eastern Div. New Hope PO, Madison Co. AL

House 93 Family 91
Simon Whitaker 35 Farmer AL
Caldonia 30 AL
James 10
John 9
Susan 6
Caroline 5
Joseph 2
Susan 80
Oredill Wright 23 Laborer AL

This would give him a birth year of 1836/37.

I could not find him on any other census.

Cheek family,Cheek reservation

by

Looking for information On Kathrine Cheek, and children Jesse also known as Sqire Cheek
Jesse marreied Delitia Watters aka Delilah Walters Cheek had a daughter named Elizabeth Jane born 1845 who maried Mitchell Layman, Lemmon in Tennesse.
There are no records of Jesse after his marriage to Delilha, story has it that the family land are Cheek Reservation was stolen.
If anyone can tell me what happened to Jesse, Kathrine, and Chason, the land and if they were Native American, records have strong links that Kathrine was removed in Trail Of Tears, and both Jesse and Delilha are Cherokee.

Austin, William John or Jack

by

We have very little information on this family but here is what we do have. Mary King married Abner Underwood in Roane Co, TN and moved to Jackson Co, AL. Abner died and she married William John Austin about 1824/26. We find a Jack Austin in the 1830 Census of Jackson Co, AL but no names in household. Probably 2 generations later, my g grandfather, William John Austin said he was from Jackson Co, AL. We don't have the name of his father who died during the Civil War but his mother was Mary Forster from TN. We find the family in Polk Co, (Ducktown) TN in 1870 Census but no Mary with them, she probably was dead. We would like to have the name of the Austin married to Mary Forster and the 2 "lost" generations of Austin's. We believe the Jack Austin in the 1830 Census is from the Austin line in Texas. Any info or bible record will be greatly appreciated.
