I noticed on the St. Herb site that they say their product has a natural form of progesterone and they do not tell if it is added or naturally in the PM itself. Does all PM contain some amount of progesterone? What about the soap? I am estrogen deficient and I don't need more progesterone! Thanks.
I'm just going to make a stab at this, but when it comes down to actual formula, Deborah might have more actual information, so I hope she see's this post! :)
"Our formulation includes progesterone, also from natural sources and bio-identical,..." I copied this from St. Herb's site and assume this is what you are referring to. As their pueraria information pages gave no mention to the presence of progesterone at all, I personally would conclude that this is something that is ADDED to the product; that PM itself is purely phytoestrogenic and not containing progesterone. Just my conclusion.
I do not know how much progesterone is added to their blend, nor do I have a clue how/if this is part of Mirifem either (again, Deb might!)
That being said, given that PM is known to be quite a bit more powerful in alot of ways than other phyto's, evidenced by some crazy responses (most often if the 15 day on 15day off is not followed) I would hazard to say that it's quite likely the estrogen effect would far outway the progestrone addition, and would only be taken during follicular when your body isn't (normally) doing any progesterone production of it's own. Again, just my lay-man's hypothesis.
As you've been having quite a battle with this, I most certainly understand your qualms about anything to do with Progestrone. Hope you can find some definitive answers. :)
I got an answer from Deborah about this question and here is what she said:
"You know I am not certain about this one....I am going to submit for an answer myself....My initial thought is that PM itself, does not contain much, if any progesterone but that the "other tropical Herbs" in the formulation..at least for the st herb capsules, contain a form of plant based progesterone. St herb does advertise that there formula contains progesterone...without stating how much or what the exact source is. According to one authority, it is actually advisable to supplement the PM with a natural progesterone cream. Especially if menopausal or post."

Well if it has Wild Yam, fenugreek or similar in the blend, then it contains natural progesterone.
