hot flashes

I haven't read all the posts but I'm wondering if anyone has tried this stuff for hot flashes? I had a hysterectomy years ago and quit using Premerin after my sister died of breast cancer. Now I can't sleep for more than a half hour at a time without waking up hot and soaked in sweat. My doctor suggested an anti depressant that's supposed to help but the side effects look worse than hot flashes so there's no way. If men had hot flashes there would be ten different cures by now.

I know there has been discussion about taking herbs/PM for menopause issues. Try a search for "menopause" or "hot flash" in the search function. You will probably come up with a variety of discussions to peruse.

Good luck!

It's probably because I'm new and don't know where to look, but when I use the network 54 search I don't get anywhere. I only got here by accident when I was researching PM which though sold mostly for breast enhancement may also work for hot flashes.

Hey SandraCay
I've used this herbal mix:

http://www.sportyshealth.com.au/nutra-life-meno-life-menopause-24-hour-menopause-relief-menopau-pr-2063.html

...and it works very effectively. It's sold under a few different names and packaging designs, made by Wagner/Nutralife

It does have black cohosh in it, but as a temporary measure (say a few months) it's fine to take. It got me through a really bad patch of hot flashes and seemed to balance everything out - I don't need to take it anymore. It's a well thought out mix of herbs in decent quantities - a quality product and was a real life saver for me! I can't rave about it enough! LOL

Oh - and taking PM close to bedtime GAVE me night sweats. And any estrogen-based HRT as well (eg Ovestin etc)

My god why would you want to use North American herbs? They are very weak. We know them because that's all we had. Pueraria Mirifica is 1000's of time stronger. The buzz isn't breast enhancement it's anti-aging.

The German's went to THAILAND in the 40's to study why the people looked so young in Northern Thailand. Their chemical research demonstrated it was the PUERARIA MIRIFICA both the men and women were eating.

They were the first ones to isolate the miroestrol...It well documented PM makes you look younger and maintains appearance. Quaker Oates sponsored much of the reseach that went on in the easrly 60's.

There are a great deal of studies done in Japan and Thailand (menopause)

Still want to use Black Cohash and cover, soy etc?

The question was specific to hot flushes, hence my suggestion for something that has worked extremely well for that particular menopause symptom for me.

You don't seem to do get it. Potent plant estrogens equals efficacy equals less hotflashes etc, Weak plant efficacy equals poors results.

It's like having a headache and taking a spec of an aspirin vs 2. There are plenty of studies its just like you do not have them because they are not common.

Black Cohosh and the other stuff are just a bandaid for hotflashes, nightsweats etc.

One day they will be obsolete as the public become more educated on the issue.
