Yes I read the Q&A session in the Sun today, and it was nice to see copy given over to squash, although I must say the questions were not very inventive.
For squash to have gained anything meaningful out of this tournament it needed to grab some decent free to air coverage on 9.
This just did not happen, so for me it has been a failure.
The little coverage in print/radio/and buried deep in foxtel will have NO lasting effect on the games profile.
Yes you are right the peak body and the Govt are to be held responsible, the Govt invest a lot of funding into the game and they had the rights to sell, so I would ask....
Between the peak body and the Govt why did they not insist in a reasonable level of free to air exposure for the sport ?
A guarantee that 9 would show both the mens and womens finals should have been the least expected.
It is well overdue for squash to "bang a few pot lids" - make some noise, get heard, be heard, even rock the boat a bit, rattle some chains, heaven forbid even upset a few people.
The game appears too meek for its own good.
ps. a least I am enjoying the discussions here (thumbs up + smile )
