Response to Re: You are on the money Paul

I am interested in your statement below.
How do you see the relationship between the peak bodies producing world champs and participation numbers ?

Given we have had numerous world beaters (and still have) and at the same time participation rates are still declining and squash centers are still closing in Aust, it seems clear that producing world number 1's has no bearing on the health of the game, ie kids are not taking up squash even though we might have the world number 1 both male and female.

Question :

1.Given what I have said above how much weight should be placed on producing world number 1's against getting kids into the game ?

2.What is the current balance do you think ? ie 70% into elite and 30% into grass roots ?
50/50 perhaps ?
I am not sure but I would guess most would go into producing world number 1's, but how much ?

Thanks Viper
