I believe that the non inclusion of Linda Eriani, a stalwart of English sides for many years in the doubles event is a DISGRACE.
Her form has been as good as anyone else in the side in recent months since her return from injury.
Her ranking still holding.
Her past performances in doubles have been as far as I can see very good.
No current pairing has prior "form".
Unlike with Melissa's BIZZARE exclusion no-one could ever site "manner" nor "attitude".
To read a player with her level of achievements and patriotism is headed home today is a joke.
Surely a place in the mixed or ladies could have been created. Some may say "its only doubles".. but if you have any national pride... and if you ask some.. winning C.G medals rank very highly.
No-one can use "age".. as Pete certainly has got his spot.
I shake my head and wonder why players with such a passion and committment get treated so shabby by the people they BUST their guts to represent.
Are you joking? Linda has had no decent results over Jen, Tania or Vicks in the past months and is 10 years older than any of them.
They are the future and she isnt going to be around for the next one now is she. Why would you pull a doubles pairing apart to make one up. Same in mixed Adrian, Jame setc are going to be around for 10 years.
She has had her day.

I think you are pretty wrong on that front as Linda beat Jenny in the Nationals and that was very recently!
And yes she isn't going to be around much longer as she stated in one of her press bits she did so exactly she should be given this chance to play as the others will have many chances in the future. In that case aswell Pete is on his way out so why then should he be being played?
Linda has experience and people are dissapointed she hasn't been picked, shame I think as well.

Sure is a disgrace

A player of Linda's calibre and record in playing for her country, nearing the end of her career SHOULD have been rewarded with what would be sort of the "icing on the cake"
Why would you leave the world #8 and someone that has been so good to England squash over such a long period out of any side?
Why does this sport have such a knack of kicking its champions in the guts rather than sending them out with much thanks?
Does anyone seriously think a doubles side with Linda in it would have lost to the Kiwis today?
I hope this post sends a message to LInda that a great deal of respect lies within many for her representation of England, for her wonderful contributions to world squash and the personality she brings to the game through her magnificent persona.
We can only hope those selected in her place grab their chances and realize that they are not bigger than the game.
Just as Linda and that wonderful era of English players- Jackman, Geaves and Elriani did.

The future.

She is 34 years old and had her day and chances. she won the bronze in Machester at the home games and thats no assurance you should get a place in the team and her partner has long retired.
Selectors picked 2 players ranked higher and that are the future. Tania beat her at the nationals and is the best Uk player when up and going. Alison we all know is going to be a champ.
I wouldnt go for someone thats already said if you are correct is finished. the managers obviously agree. they wouldnt just pick a side to lose on purpose. They have seen something obviously we havent seen and they are the ones who see it all. They train these girls and must know what they are capable of doing.
Linda didnt win any british or world to earn some divine right. Vicks, Jenny, Tan or Alison could all win one in the future.

The future

how can ppl say that linda dosn't deserve to play in the doubles!? she is better than alison and jenny, and yes beat jenny at the nationals and that was not long ago!
She has experience that other player do not and yes she did deserve to stay! her dedication to squash over the years has been great and so has her form! England squash should have let her have her moment of glory without question!
so, i just want to say that linda has been such a great player for england and she is a great influence for all juniors and all players for that matter!

She lost to Jenny twice ths year on the tour. and Jen is half her age. Alison everyone knows is up and coming.
Tan and Vicks are a good combination and would always be playing together. Lindas partner no longer plays.
Who did you all want her to play with?
Jen and ALison got stuck in a tough half but still pushed it to 5 sets.
I cant see why older players cant accept their fate and move on rather than try and hold juniors back. We'd have done just as well at the worlds last year with Vicky, Jenny and Tania and Alison but instead they selected the older crew and they still lost and now the younger ones are a step behind the 8 ball and could have had a year of experience under their belts and dont just as well.
You say that the juniors better watch that they realize they re no bigger than the game. Linda should be the 1 accepting that.

British closed nationals is much different to a British open.

Mate,
Do you actually know anything about the game?
Such total disrespect for a lady that is not even posting here is completely uncalled for. I raised this topic not to denegrate the questionable players selected in front of her.. but to question the system and selection process. Never was it intended to make it a personal atack on those selected. For you to constantly mention her age, her losses and telling her to be "accepting" she is not bigger than the game is an unacceptable response.
A Total of 92 Caps for ENGLAND. A top 6 player for 6 consecutive years.
Member of Englands winning Euro teams champs how many times over??
Led England to the WTC in 200 over the Aussies.
BRITISH NATIONAL Champion 2005....
Do you call becoming sick in Malaysia and forfeiting a loss?? seriously...
Just take a look at her record... she was head to head with some of the best female players to play this game- Fitzgerald, Martin, Jackman, Owens...
On top of that Chairman of WISPA... and you are telling her not to act like she is bigger than the game??
Her exclusion in the ladies or mixed doubles at the current Comm. Games is a disappointment. She deserves to know that there are people out here who acknowledge her dedication, achievments and input to E-Squash, The WISPA tour and to the fans that love to see her play. She is certainly one of the last female players on tour that I would question as to her "needing an ego check".
And.... her PARTNER from Manchester 2002 has NOT retired as suggested "LONG AGO".. that exact partner defeated V Botwright just over a month ago and then Natalie Grainger. She has left the country to take up a very good coaching position yet still in top 16 and a menace to the top players.
Me thinks a combo of Elriani and Geaves would be playing semi finals doubles this weekend... and the pairing you rave over... ISNT.

Fiona and Linda would be an awsome pairing. Fiona has had some amazing results it's brilliant to see.
Linda needs to face nothing, it is her fans who are posting in here not her.
