Ah, I love the Great Sand Dunes. I love it so much, in fact, that I decided to create this entire web site about the Great Sand Dunes. In my life, I have visited three times (2001, 2004 and 2006) and I figured creating this web site might be the excuse I'll need to visit more often.

If all goes well, my goal is to make this place the web site to go to for people who can't enough of these dunes!

I plan on visiting it

sometime in the next 5 years. Am looking forward to purchasing 5 acres (God willing) in the San Luis Valley south of the dunes for building a future vacation house on. I've been researching the area for many years now.

Pretty rough to make a living in this area though. Alamosa is the nearest "big town" offering any kind of meaningful employment. What a place for part time retirement though! Mountains on 3 sides, wild horses roaming freely. COLD in the winter and pretty warm in the summer though.

Not for the faint of heart.

What breathtaking scenery though!

Land is probably cheap in the San Luis Valley! :) ...

I would say if you generally like rural living and don't need a lot of people to thrive, the San Luis Valley might be a wise choice. Oh and yes, the scenery is amazing!
