97 AAA Nats and 97 AA RoyalsDecember 10 2006 at 12:26 AM No score for this post | Anonymous (no login) |
| Riddle me this batman:
Is it true that the 97 AA Royals will take over the Young Nats 97 AAA team for the the 2007-2008 season?
Both teams run by same owner.
Will this mean that the Young Nats parents will be hung out to dry after next year.
Not sure if I should sign with the Nats for next season knowing that it will only be for only 1 year.
Concerned Nat parent. |

That is nothing new, since the team owners son plays on the Royals AA team this year. His son will be on the Nats AAA team next year, but they will need some of the current Nats players. The only thing that will change is who controls the team for next year. The Humber Valley parents will not control next year. |

I see this happening the following season as the Royals are still building and 1 more in AA will be great for development . When they have a core that is ready to move they will make that jump. |

If your son is good enough concerned Nat parent ,then you have nothing to worry about. I don't see them moving the entire team up. |

There should be no such thing as a backup at this age. Both keepers should be playing and developing. |

I don't see the Royals AA taking over the Nats. There may be some kids moving up to the Nats but thats it. Not enough good players on Royals to make a AAA team. |

His kids play for Royals (where they belong).

As mentioned earlier, PE would only be taking kids that he feels are ready which from my opinion only means 4-5 kids. He still needs to fill out the roster with some current Nats if he feels they belong. If I'm a current Nats parent I would be excited because everyone I speak with has nothing but good things to say about him. |

I don't really know the Nats team that well. How many Nats kids have what I'll call gifted positions (Staffs' kids or good friends) and could be at risk if management changes? There are a lot of kids in AAA that do not play at a AAA level, how much does this apply to the Nats? |

Nat parent here! We have tryouts every April and that is when you know your child will be playing the next season. There is a connection with family friends and royals but the players who will make the most improvement on the team will be picked in April. That goes for every team in the Nats family. Friend family or not. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 97 AAA Nats and 97 AA RoyalsNo score for this post | July 19 2007, 12:38 PM |
12:28, Sorry to burst your bubble but the only players who will be picked in April will be roster fillers. Most AAA teams will be 85% picked in late Dec. or early Jan.
That's the way it is everywhere. You are obviously new to this scene. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 97 AAA Nats and 97 AA RoyalsNo score for this post | July 19 2007, 12:45 PM |
I think you could look at virtually any team and see there are atleast 1 or 2 that probably don't belong. Whether it be coaches kid, loyalty to a friend, accepting a package deal to get a strong player whatever. I'm not suggesting the Nats are the only ones but they're not exempt either. Fact is IF new management comes in next year these deals are off! |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 97 AAA Nats and 97 AA RoyalsNo score for this post | July 19 2007, 12:48 PM |
I agree , but i would say it is most likely 3-4 kids per team and that number increases as you go down the standings. |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: 97 AAA Nats and 97 AA RoyalsNo score for this post | July 19 2007, 12:58 PM |
OK so some parents may be nervous. Now, again 'IF' the Royals coach is moving in how does he recruit for a AAA team in Dec and Jan while still coaching a AA team??? Will not a number of Royals players assume they will be taking the ride to AAA with the coach ready or not? |

Re: 97AAwest June 19 2007, 3:09 PM
5:37, if you think PE is going into this unprepared then you obviously do not know the man. He will not move anyone who isn't ready, which is the reason he is staying for 1 more year in AA. He has said he will try his best to get as many to the next level as possible friends or no friends. I'm not sure my own kid will be ready but you can't argue with his intentions to make everyone better.

I have to tell you, you guys are trying to scare up dirt where there isn't any. My son has played for several other GTHL clubs and BY FAR, the Nats organization has been the best for sense of development, team play, etc. We plan to stay for as long as they will have us. And frankly, if my boy gets cut because he's not good enough, no problem.. we'd happily play for the Royals. This organization has the right outlook on hockey in my estimation. We may or may not rival teams for first place, but my boy will learn alot both on and off the ice. So try and stir the pot elsewhere, as you can see, Nats/Royals parents aren't buying into your garbage. |

I'm not suggesting PE won't be smart about it OR respectful but honest about who he would be able to take with him to the next level. BUT the problem lies within the parents and their reaction as it unfolds. You seem like a reasonable parent that does not view his kid thru rose coloured glass but others...................... we'll have to wait and see. |

I'm familiar with a few of the Royals parents and they are good people but when it comes to minor hockey most parents seem to turn into WACK JOBS! I would think these people would know where their kids are in terms of playing ability BUT as you said it will be a difficult situation. |

If your kid truly belongs in AAA you should not have to worry about making the Nats next year. The only parents that should be worried are one that don't belong. Just think of it as a tryout consisting of 2 complete teams. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 97 AAA Nats and 97 AA RoyalsNo score for this post | July 19 2007, 3:37 PM |
I don't think PE figures more than 4 or 5 players from the Royals will be ready for the move. For arguments sake suppose 6 or 7 players from the existing Nats choose to stay so putting aside other AAA possibilities for a moment, I'm sure within AA he can easily find 5 or 6 AAA calibre kids. So its not so much a question of 'if' but how PE pulls it together. Its going to be interesting. |

Maybe he doesn't, but he does get a much closer look at them during the season than current AAA coaches. Maybe parents might feel more comfortable with him comming from AA just like their kids . I know I would if he contacts me , can you imagine the look on the faces of the arrogant dads and moms from AAA getting beat my a team of 8-10 kids from AA. That would be pricelss. |

4:30 - All you really have to do is read this thread for your answer.
No one has nothing but good things to say about PE. He has stayed back to try and prepare (develop) as many as possible for the jump but won't take anyone thats not ready.
WOW! A respected coach with integrity, who's focused on developing the kids. This is unheard of in AAA. Similar to what 4:37 said, PE comes from AA, he respects the kids and will treat them fairly and as equals. Kids don't have to prove themselves against existing AAA kids to earn their ice time. They proved themselves when they earned their position on the team and he accepts the responsibility, win or lose, to work with and develop each and every kid on the team.
What do you think? Would he have inside track on getting top kids??? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 97 AAA Nats and 97 AA RoyalsNo score for this post | July 19 2007, 8:12 PM |
minor peewee is a great time to start AAA , some kids do mnr atm A then atom AA then mnr pwee AAA, they crack first line, just because your kid plays AAA from mnr atm does not mean he will star or stay in AAA. my first child rushed to AAA and seem to do well but at mnr pwee it was the kids who came the slow route up from A to AA that had a special loosness about them, its the pressure of AAA that takes some young kids spunk away. not all kids but about 9 or 10 on each team. the other ones are just mental muscle kids who find it fun to play under pressure and become head hunters when pressured by other teams..you know the kinda kids im talking about. so to all posters on here who cares where your kid plays today or next season, its CAN he do it in mnr mdgt..the year we all want are kids to shine. just an ease dropper with two AAA boys gone up the system...have fun while it lasts |

well hello 8.12!
Iwas thinking to myself how a 5 or 6 place AA coach was being spoken of like the king of hockey fart. fart. fart.
He sure does pimp himself well ..talks like he is the only coach willing to move up to AAA, if he only had a few more coaching years he would be cracking up in his chair like us. I bet he is a parent coach who only knows coaches with kids his own kids age, TO BAD PAL THESE THREADS STAY FOR EVER AND FIVE YEARS FROM NOW YOU WILL LOOK BACK WITH A RED FACE AND SAY..I HAVE BEEN FOOLED BY MYSELF. stop pimpin on here its bad for your ego, you would never be able to coach a pile of mnr mdgt prospects. so next time you open a thread just thank the owners kid on your team, who daddy will move you up with his child , but come the wonder years you will be pushed aside with the other spangy coaches and told to take your load of crap with you. did you ever play any good hockey or coach before...never heard of you before.. to me your just a self pimpin wanna be houseleague player who maybe coaches his own child.. so keep pimpim if you want more realistic post's on here..joker |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: 97 AAA Nats and 97 AA RoyalsNo score for this post | July 19 2007, 8:56 PM |
Ouch! That's a bit harsh, 837.
But I do agree that its relatively easy to be perceived as a "development" guy after one season as a coach, especially a season like last year where few had expectations for the Royals, they improved over the season, and kept a core together for next year. This year will be more challenging from a development perspective, I would imagine. He must both develop a AA team while simultaneously dveloping players for the his AAA team the following year. Not saying it can't be done, just that it could affect the team dynamic as the season progresses.
753, to answer your question about PE having an indside track on recruiting: sadly, no, he won't. Some parents may buy into the "development first" approach, but most (faced with options) will probably be wary of the guy "moving up from AA."
I figure that if the Nats do well this year (4th-6th), and PE can keep together that core and add the few Royals kids he thinks are ready for AAA, he will probably do quite well. But, if the Nats don't do well or the core decides to move elsewhere, then its a a more bleak situation. If he is expected to build a AAA team mainly with top AA players (from the Royals and elsewhere), I think that the team will have trouble recruiting, and trouble competing the following year. |

You almost seem to take offence to the thought that there may be a guy in AA that is respected because he treats others with respect and has his priorities straight. In AAA theres no place for a guy like this and the only way you know how to deal with it is to try and bring him DOWN to your level. You attack his character and marginalize his ability to coach suggesting he hasn't earned his position as coached but rather is riding the coat tails of the owners sons. But by your own admission you know absolutely nothing about man, never met him, spoke to him or even heard of him before this thread and YET you feel your in a postition of authority to judge the him.
THAT POST is exactly why PE may have an inside track with top kids. If for no other reason than to avoid the typical arrogant egotistical AAA attitude as demonstrated by your post.
As for RED FACED embarrassment I'm not the coach just a parent with a great deal of respect for a good man with integrity.........something that you seem to lack.
