I once tried to watch a soccer game. They passed it ariund the midfield for about 10 minutes and after about 20 passes the goalie hammered the ball to the other team and then they did the same d*mn thing.

Compared to hockey watching baseball or soccer is about as exciting as watching grass grow.

My son plays hockey and baseball played soccer but prefers baseball.
Bottom line is I am glad he wants to play any sport baseball or soccer and not just bum around the neighborhood. Is that not our major concern in keeping our kids active and healthy. Let them play what ever damn sport they want because ulimitly our oppinion of which sport is better does not matter.

I love hockey, but I have seen some pretty boring hockey games too. And don't forget some pretty famous fake injuries in hockey -- Kovalev vs. the Nordiques (Sakic goal didn't count as a result); Ribeiro's epileptic fit at centre ice in the playoffs (got up and laughed as he skated to the bench). Say what you want about soccer, but hockey is not without sin.

The fake injuries in the NHL started when the Europeans started to migrate into the NHL, I guess the European hockey players picked this up from the soccer players.

Watching a soccer game is like watching hair grow.

My kid plays house soccer with neighbourhood kids-at least the mom's show a little more than at the arena. The sudden severe thunder storms, women scrambling to cars with portable chairs held over their heads....not every evening at the pitch is uninteresting.

#2 is certainly debatable. They can run and kick a ball into a giant net. My 2 year old can do that too.

#1 is not debatable. It is because it is a poor person's sport which anyone can play worldwide. If the ball cost $2000, soccer would not exist.

Hey if you want excitement in soccer just got to Woodbridge and watch the bottom level rep soccer for girls. The parents are the best ever. They spit on you and then if you make a comment they get thee sons who are underage to threat to take you to the parking lot for a 3 on 1. Then when thee walking back to there seats cause your laughing so hard they call you gay because your dressed better.
Then to top it all off they spit on your car going through the parking lot as you stop to get your kid.
