Players should play at home.....

No score for this post
April 13 2007, 8:47 PM

In stead of feeding into big daddy's ego little Johnny should just play at home in his own center. There are rules, Eddie Greenspan challenged them a couple years back and was losing the battle when the two families he was representing bailed on him, if it wasn't for generous coaches granting releases succumbing to pressures from Big Ego Daddy's then Johnny would be just as happy playing at home. At 11 years old Johnny's best friends are close to home!

A "cut" player can go elsewhere to develop if another center wants to fill a spot with a import, the premier players should be guarded and held to their home centers.

Ask many NHL'rs, Jeff O'Neill is one of them!

Ok Stalin, what kind of a moronic statement is that. We live in Canada, freedom of speech, freedom of choice... No where else in society are things like residency rules enforced except minor hockey. You know I hope you work in Halton because if you live there thats where you should be employed regardless if you can go some where for a better pay, program... Residency is plain stupid! Run a good program people will want to stay, I believe Halton does, but many don't! Why should you have to stay there? Think before you speak. Your wife not allowed to speak unless spoken to first I bet.

That's what I said, stated the facts Jack, rules are there, to be obeyed, you don't want to obey the rules hire Greenspan, and give it the college try, and let your kid gather rust until October when you give up, after spending thousands on appeals, Johnny's better in his home center, not in the G feeding your ego!

Please don't compare the rules in the OMHA to Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein, and the rest of those "good 'ole' boys", the OMHA just knows and has a proven record of what is best for Johnny his family and his development as a person and a player, the GTHL has never had the best interests of a family or a player unless they can exploit them, prove otherwise Mr Ego.

Must be an OMHA rep, exec member, or someones who's kid is mediocre at best. Residency is in no other sport, do you hear none. Not in Baseball, Basketball, girls hockey, soccer, badminton, golf, tennis, swimmers... Still lots of great athletes in other sports go to training facilities or programs that can better their kids, but morons like you still stuck in the past.

Looks like most centres are adhering to the OHF policies and keeping their talent at home. Hamilton is going through the same thing. There is alot of controversy over this but it needs to be done in every centre. I guess Oakville isn't so bright though. They let the floud gates open and let kids leave but they make it very difficult for imports to come in.

Kids should be able to play where they want. What happens when there is a coach who never plays your kid and the organization refuses to listen! You are stuck and in a bad situation. But you would not care because you only think about yourself. Please keep all kids in the area so we can have the best team possible, even though the kid is miserable and will probably quit hockey because he hates the situation. But then you will be happy, right? Mission accomplished, another kid who will never play hockey again.

RE 1997 Canes..........Team is going with 7F and 4D.

Just spoke with Halton's 96 coach and his boy is going to play on both 97&96 team. He is a 97, but he is taking a free ride with the 97 team. He can only play 5 games after January and he will make his decision on what team to stay on then.

Here's an idea. Instead of living your lives and measuring your worth through your kid's AAA hockey teams, why don't you sit down and compare what really matters...Bank Account and Quality of Wife. If tied, go out back of the areana an compare length and girth. If still tied....sword fight.

Yeah. give it a rest. My son was one of the last cuts on forward on the 96 team, if not the last. No one in our family is complaining. It was a well run tryout and seemed very fair to us. The competition was high due to a good talent pool. Good luck to the team next year.
