Maybe you'd like to look at Brampton's stats --126 PIM in 23 games, lowest in the loop.

There are questions posed above about whether or not this team is dirty.....
Not sure about dirty, but they definitely lack sportsmanship.
Saturday afternoon vs. Burlington....
One of their kids lays out a Burlington player with a solid, clean hit....
Burlington player stays down and is clearly hurt....
Brampton kids AND 2 of the 3 coaches behind the bench begin to cheer and pat their player on the back...

Then one of the coaches had the nerve to get confrontational with a Burlington coach when the Burlington coach questioned their sportsmanship....

Class act boys....class act....

No one wants to see a kid get hurt and no one was applauding that. They were only congratulating a team mate who is not known for his physical game that he laid out a "solid, clean hit" (your words). Your player came back on the ice, didn't he?

Yes - he did come back - but that's not the point. There is no doubt that it was a solid, clean hit - and congrats to a kid who is normally not physical....but there is a time and place to show this excitement under these circumstances.....
When the receiver of the nice hit is hurt, that is not the time to be celebrating, because regardless for the reason for showing this excitment, there is a player injured and that should be everyone's first concern (doesn't matter which jersey you wear). Save the pat on the back for a quieter moment on the bench...or in the dressing room after the game.

Now - if the kid bounces right up after being hammered, then fine, go nuts...but perception is everything....
Any comments on why your coach became so defensive and confrontational when questionned about this? I don't believe he explained it as clearly as you have...but rather became quite irate (when according to your reasoning, there was really no reason to be so defensive....)

I agree. Coach needs to be more responsible then that! Focus on the whole game, not just your team.

Problem is the coach has never played the game at this level. So he does not know any better.

They need someone on the bench with actual hockey smarts! Then you will have the proper code of ethics amongst coaches.

I'm glad your kid is ok. I don't like to see celebrating when there is someone laying on the ice, either. I gave you the only explanation I could.
All I can say about the coach, he's a bit of a hot head with a lot of people, not just opponent coaches.
We don't stand too close to the dressing room door after games.

If I can get him to stop yelling at the kids, I'll next work on getting him to stop yelling at the other coaches!
Honestly, I really didn't know of the altercation between coaches.
I do tell my own kid what is appropriate behaviour & what I expect of him. I'm sure most of the parents with kids on this team do as well.

Not sure who it is trying to cause trouble on a team that truly has none! I KNOW!!! A content team in minor hockey... who'd have believed THAT??? First off, there isn't any coach with a mullet. Perhaps you were thinking about last year's staff. Haven't heard much complaining from the kids or parents. Most are very happy with the way things are moving along. 2nd in our loop - not too shabby. Pretty fair ice time, although that is ALWAYS going to be a bone of contention for somebody at some point. Hey, they are 10 and have good games and bad ones - ice time is earned. DEVELOPMENT - what a concept.

Enough pot stirring...try barking up another tree.

p.s. Thank you Moderator for eliminating the racial remarks - and to the rest of you - goons? unsportsmanlike? Not even close to the crap you have slung!

As the team you are the face of the organization. I'm sure you didn't know beforehand but even you must agree that someone in your organiztion is trying to fix the SS to get Brampton a clean pass to round 2. It's easy to blame the "unknown" scheduler but tougher to admit that the organixzation as a whole has embarrassed themselves and the team involved. Someone in your coaching staff requested this schedule - guaranteed!!!!!

9:11...really not sure which game you were watching if you are implying that there was lack of sportsmanship on Burlington's side last night....

When our player dumped yours into our net in the 2nd period, the only clapping and stick slapping was when your kid got up....

In fact, maybe you don't recall your kids charging our net and taking digs at our goalie in the final minute of a 3-0 game? You gripe to the refs about your guys getting dumped at the whistle, but if you're going to give it (digging in the crease), then you gotta be ready to take it (getting dumped)....

Another relatively close game...aside from the 3rd period which you guys dominated (17-3 shot advantage in the third alone)....

he didn't dump him into the NET, he dumped his head into the CROSSBAR...big difference. your player could probably put his size to better use.

You're obviously going to see what you want to see when your kid gets hurt....
You're implying that our player drove your guys head into the crossbar - which wasn't the case....
What did happen was your player driving hard to the net, going for the loose puck....after digging for it, he was knocked over by our player...as he fell over our goalie, he hit his head on the crossbar (I'm not minimizing this as I'm sure it hurt!)....but, as you put it, BIG DIFFERENCE....
The same hit anywhere else on the ice results in your player landing on his butt/knees..

We could go back and forth on this all day....ref called a roughing penalty and clearly if there was obvious intent to injure (ie. if the ref felt that he intentionally drove him into the crossbar), the appropriate penalty would have been called.

See you in the playoffs.....

Oakville - I can't wait to re-visit this comment in a couple of months when you guys are back in the Tri-County loop after getting knocked out early.
All it's going to take is a team to get more than a few shots on your goalies, who have not been tested and are unproven. Low GAA looks good on paper, but would like to see Save % for these goalies.

See you in the Tri-County playdowns.

Guys, give your heads a shake. Oakville is in first and still has 4 games in hand. No one is catching them. They will not lose a game in the playoffs. This team has proved itself as a clutch team in tournament play and they will cruise until they face they winner of the Bluewater league or the top teams in the East. Its too bad they can't play in a league where they get regular competition.

Let them boast...let them set expectations soooo high of their kids.....becuase you know what? In February when they do lose and have to play the 'lesser competition' in their loop, the kids won't give a rats ass once they leave the dressing room - they're there to have fun...

The REALLY fun part would be to watch the parents/coaches suffer...after the team failing to live up to these significant expectations - the dads can talk about the 'woulda, coulda, shoulda' on the golf course and the moms can do the same at the spa....

They may not look dominant when they play you, but its because they are bored and tend to play down to teh competition. But, they know how to step it up when they meet a quality team. They are ranked 6th in the province for good reason: they have actually beat good teams (#1 London Gold, # 10 Newmarket, #12 Braves). What have any of teh other Tricounty teams done this year in tournaments?

As for good teams playing down to competition, it happens all the time (they are 10 years old for crying out loud). Maybe a great team doesn't that, but Oakville is not a great team: they are just a very good team in a mediocre loop. Them the facts guys.

As for putting the kids on a pedestal, of course I would never tell any of this to my kid. I maybe arrogant, but they are just CONFIDENT. And if they flame out, it won't sting too much (I'll just stay off the boards).
