So what I'm gathering that getting cup is very common in the GTHL?

I am wondering why a coach would bother to take a kid on for a whole year, or several kids, and then decide that they are no longer worth spending time on? Especially at the younger ages, (9 or 10). How on earth can you tell what kind of player a kid has the potential to be? Especially if there aren't any superstars on the team.

Cuts at that age have to do more with Parents. But some kids manage to get cut on their own because of their attitude.

Brutal...these are kids you are talking about. Getting cut is devastating for a child and all you can think of are best lines. Put your efforts into something more constructive. This is a new low for the N54.

If it were my kid, I'd want to tell him myself. I'd lie lie and lie to protect him. ie. we can't afford it this year, you need to concentrate on school, let's try select so we have more time. Make it our fault not his.
If my kid was older, then it would be a different story.

1:47..having a little fun, thats all...

If your kid at 7,8,9 is 'devastated' about being cut from a hockey team, you are doing something very wrong as a parent, even if you think it has nothing to do with YOU..(its you that is devastated)..

Your welcome to tryout if you want to bring him. Lucky if he makes it to the 3rd tryout. Can you say, Dads EGO will hurt it for the kid.

that is the problem with parents and soceity today
we all got cut from teams even school teams

what is wrong with a kid learning that he isn't good enough and he needs to play at a lower level

why must we be so over protective
you aren't good enough...work hard and maybe next year you will be good enough end of story
