Get lost, did you read about some of the threads on this, at least baseball is a sport.
If you don't want to talk Baseball then go to a different thread.
Who cares if you prefer Tim's to Starbucks..............
Who cares if you wear white during winter...............
And that's just some of the stupid topics on this "hockey" site. |

Baseball is something I'll try when I'm too old and fat to play hockey, soccer and even golf. Leave baseball for the girls. |

WORD OF ADVICE, NO ONE ON THIS BLOG WILL HAVE ANYTHING POSITIVE TO SAY ABOUT A SPORT THAT HAS A TENDENCY TO MAKE FUN OF THEIR OWN LACK OF ATHLETISM. IS THERE NOT A BLOG DEDICATED TO BASEBALL? |

It's pretty simple guys, if you don't give a rat's a$$ about baseball, then don't read the thread, there are plenty of threads I ignore, or do you have that much time on your hands that you take the time to read and make negative comments about something you could care less about? |

Would it be possible to start an "OBA" thread here on N54?
Last year, it seemed like info from ball tournaments and scores were hard to come by. Following other teams in your level just makes for a more exciting season. |

Soccer... please, you may as well spell it B-O-R-I-N-G. Can't wait for baseball to start. North York definitely has a team to be proud of. Top team N or S of border. |

There are several teams out there that can compete with NY on a given day. Although they only lost once last year to a Canadian team, there were several teams that came close. Mississauga, Burlington, Guelph, Markham, are just a few. I think things will really change this year with the increase in base lengths and the new pitching rules. Every team who wants to compete better have lots of kids who can throw strikes and play the catcher position. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Baseball - 96 AAA OBANo score for this post | March 19 2008, 12:40 PM |
I agree, teams that want to compete will need to be strong at the pitcher and catcher position. Next year, PeeWee, is a big year and you will see some teams that think they have a shot a nationals, out recruiting the top catchers. There are not that many in the loop. The new pitching rules will benefit those with depth and not those with one or two dominent pitchers. As for a baseball only thread the COBA website has one but it is not that active.

Say it isn't so!!!! The mighty North Yook Blues lose to Guelph in the final of the Oakville tournament. Good for Guelph!!! It is not the only time this year that NY is going to lose to a 96 team. There is lots of disention on the NY team. That's what happens when you carry 14 players!!! |
|

14 Players? are you sure..does that mean 5 kids sit all game, that cannot be right |

14 players. I'm sure!! 5 sit every inning. That's why so many are unhappy! |

|
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 AAA BaseballNo score for this post | June 6 2008, 3:43 PM |
They will get blown away in Cooperstown. As will the Tigers and the Majors. That will be a whole new level of baseball. It will be a great experience for the boys but don't expect good results. You will be up against teams that fly in players just for the tourney. You don't have to be on a roster to compete, so they will have state allstar teams. Would do it again in a heartbeat. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 AAA BaseballNo score for this post | June 6 2008, 5:05 PM |
We're also carrying 14 players. Not a good situation at all. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 AAA BaseballNo score for this post | June 6 2008, 6:50 PM |
Will see who has the most gas in the tank at the end of the season. OBA pitch count rules caused teams to carry more players, teams with 11 and 12 players won't have a chance in the OBA's, especially a mega tournament year like Minor PeeWee. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | 96 AAA baseballNo score for this post | June 7 2008, 1:13 PM |
If you don't carry 14 players at this age, your in for some serious trouble.
Pitching is the most crucial thing at this age.
You can't go with 11 or 12 players anymore folks.
Pitching rules have changed and your ace can't do a whole tournament anymore.
Get over it cause it is reallity now. |

You can if 10 out of 11 can pitch. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 AAA baseballNo score for this post | June 17 2008, 3:14 PM |
Exactly. If you have depth at pitching from your positional players you can do very nicely.
Most teams are not handling the pitch counts well in tournaments
Don't be afraid to burn a few guys Saturday. The remaining ones can go deeper on Sunday as they can go right to 80 pitches. Too many teams have too many players eligible to pitch on Sunday that never get used and they put themselves in jeopardy of not seeing Sunday by being conservative on Saturday. |

The OBAs are going to be very difficult to predict this year. Burlington looks good, having just won the Vaughan tournament. Guelph will be there as well North York and Markham. Who else looks good this year? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 AAA baseballNo score for this post | June 18 2008, 8:49 AM |
Burlington is in 9th place out of 12 teams in a combined tier 1/2 loop. If they are a contender, so is every team in COBA. |
