yeah - they are mostly going AA including coach and the select team is coming up to A --> they will have a tough season

yeah there were about 30 kids. good show. but thats it.
a few A and AA kids were there (or were at least wearing the jerseys), but their best kids are leaving, and there were some weak player there from HL.

Wow! 30 kids?? there is that many out there looking for an A team for atom next season.. I would have to think most were HL or maybe select. Why would any A or AA players already in the G want to go to a new team coming up from select? So I guess some more promises were made today... Unfortunately only to be broken when the end of April comes along for the real and legal tryouts...

Perhaps, then some of these people both coaches and parents will wisen up and play by the rules rather than trying to get a jump on the season or shall I say cheat the process for their own selfishness.... see how either one of them feels when they decide to go with some one else.... This is exactly how crap on here gets started..... self centered and selfish coaches and both insecure parents and coaches....

Personally I would think twice about joining any team that doesn't follow rules... If they don't follow this one rule now and season has yet to start, what would make you think they would follow any good and ethical practices when the season does starts when it comes to you or your kid. What are they actually commuicating to you when they decide to have these secreative B skates.... I will tell you what; "we don't care about rules and we will do whatever it takes to have the best possible team, so we can WIN, WIN, WIN...lol

This is why the G gets F***** up, because of all the misleading agreements most probably promises made at this or any other such skate....

V Panthers also had a 2 day B'day skate - it took them 9-10 hrs during March break to confirm an additional 5 players yet they are still looking for a goalie (back up) - they committed to 2 back ups but not happy with their choices

this team will be struggling to keep up to the avs record this year and score 37 goals for! have you seen them play a game this year? they have HL players except for a couple, and most of their D is below HL. If they had some A or AA players out, they must be out of their minds to go from a playoff or top team to a bottom feeder next year. let them have all the skates they want, they will only get more HL players. if you want to see a good team, come to the TR or DB.

there were a lot of kids there yesterday. a bunch wearing team jersey from DD and VP. Cant understand why they wouldnt go with the rest of their team to AA. BUt if they want to stay at A, why would they want to go from in the finals now to the clancy next year. they should move on and let my houseleague kid get a chance to play on an A team. they told me they were only looking for a few players as most of their kids were staying.

Arnt most of these players going TR AA? and some to VPAA? Both coaches are leaving, so why would anyone else stay?

tryouts= a few DD kids that were left behind, some left behind from other A teams, some kids that never belonged in AA, and about 50 HL kids, good luck you will need

how is the coaching staff on this team? I'm looking at bringing my son there, any insights?

Ive known them since HL, they are good guys. but it doesnt look like they can coach very well. from the NYHL website, they are basically a 500 team in tier 2. when they move up to A they will be probably drop to a non playoff team. i spoke to one of the parents who was on team this year, and she said they were nice, but couldnt develop the kids, and they dont play like a team, and their top player is leaving. Not sure if i want to bring my son there and not make playoffs. I'll listen to the other teams who are calling us before deciding. Anyone know of any other A teams looking? maybe a higher ranked team?

Lots of teams will be looking since there will be high turn over. Many kids going to AA (and not just the top players - some A level kids going just for the extra A) HV and WM could be good options since core of players are staying. Lot's of noise on here about the Icedogs being a powerhouse next year. TR is apparently full. They have aleady given themselves the title next year.

does HV and WM have any spots open still? are they having any skates before tryouts? does anyone know exactly when tryouts are, GTHL website doesnt have them yet?

The royals did develop the team and the proof is on the ice. my kid is going out for a AA team next season but if he does not make it the royals are a sure bet for a good team.

i kno the coaches from a couple years ago too, they are good guys. Are their kids still the worst ones on team or have they improved this year, havent seen them play since last season.

coach said spots left open for tryouts and, as far as a skate. he said no need unless you are entering minor atom. call PL at the royals and he will give you the 98a coaches number.

just reading this thread thru for the first time, so it sounds like TR WM HV are the A teams to try and get onto as opposed to the DD. I gather they are not the same team as this years DD who are currently in the finals? Is it a completely new team, or a mix of old and new?

I went looking for some fillers tonight, but found I won't need any after watching this team! hahaha

why so much negative talk about this team? besides the fact that they will be a new and probably weak team, are there issues there that should make someone want to stay away?
