97Nats - Bright Future in 08/09???

I keep coming across people that are speaking very highly of the Nats prospects for next season. It's not who you'd expect either, these are people not even associated with the Nats and yet they speak with some confidence and certainty that the Nats will be the team to watch for next year as they come out of nowhere to challenge near the top.

All I know is the Nats were a midpack team knocked out in round one for the second year in a row and recently went through an overhaul of the coaching staff. I can't say I know who if any are staying, who's going, who's coming in or even if they have a full team yet but I am hearing consistantly that the future is looking bright for this team.

Now admittedly some of the talk is surely second, third, fourth and beyond hand banter but the reports are consistant and that has me curious. So who knows what the real deal is with this team and are they full?

This is NW54 so all info will be put thru the 1%fact / 99%bull screening process but thankyou for your comments anyway.

From other threads apparently the '3 Amigos' are going to the Nats. Good players but they do not make a team.

Expect there to be a lot of changes for the 97 age group next year. With all the movement it will be interesting to see who goes where. Lots of rumours like all new JRC, NYR, TYN, 1/2 a new Marlie team, etc. Nats will be in the same position as all of the rebuilding teams.

Will coaches, new and old, be able to put their teams together from scratch? They have to learn players strengths and weaknesses and try to have them all gel together.

Those only keeping 1/2 a team will have to integrate the newbies into the clan, not an easy task if the old clan has been together for a while.

Hummmmmmmmmmm - this is going to be a very interesting upcoming season.

8:03 heard 6 from Rangers going there and if it is Amigos plus 3 strong players/goalies then that is a good starting point.

The team should be mid pack but overall better atmosphere now that old coaching staff going to Reps. The new Reps will be in the cellar....

8:07 you suggested it's difficult to successfully integrate 'newbies' into an existing group and while I understand what your saying I don't necessarily agree as I think it is primarily a determination of how mature and open minded the group is. It is in everyones best interest to absorb newcomers into the fold as quickly as possible and get on with the season rather than endlessly evaluating whether are not they should have been brought on board in the first place because the later is irrelevent.

Guys, original poster here. I hear what your saying and a rebuilding team being midpack or lower is what I'd expect same as you BUT it's not what I'm hearing in the out there. If these people were associated with the team I could understand a bias but they're not and thats what has me so curious.

Is the team full yet?

I have heard a lot of info on this team as well. The old coach is leaving and going to rebuild the reps and apparently taking a lot of kids with him, if what i heard is true..spots should be avalible, call the coach, its the only way to know for sure.

This team will be a top 4 team next year as NR tossed in alot of money because the coached he picked couldn't recruit any AAA kids. They already cut 4 AA players to make room for the Rangers.
The rest of the teams in the organization better watch how much money they are paying because NR will be offsetting the cost of the minor peewee team by charging more money from the other teams.SH did the same at the Red Wings.

OK 9:11, This is where the NW54 screening process kicks in;

QUESTION: who would know who and how many were cut already or even the level of commitment, if any all? OR how much $$$ NR is 'tossing in' if any OR how any cost would be downloaded onto other teams within the organization if at all?

ANSWER: NOBODY! but this IS where an over zealous poster on the attack goes too far, offering more info and detail than anyone could logically have which effectively ends up discrediting their own post and exposes them as nothing more than bitter angry parents or possibly coaches for reasons unknown.

Now, back to reality folks with real offerings.

Original scare was AARoyals coach was bringing his entire AA team up to replace Nats, which fell into the "too much info too soon" catagory and as expected turned out to be bull. Sooooooo, now we're a little closer aside from the coaches son, how many AA players(if any) are being brought up in the reconstruction of the team?

Some may see Nats as big winners by picking up several NYR but I think the Marlies see themselves as the biggest winners as their closest competition has fallen apart and this age group should for the first time legitimately finish first in the standings, a position they truely covet in maintaining their reputation.

Very True. Marlies biggest winner in this whole situation. Totally benefit most from NYR screw up. First place, picked up one of the D and now face them in the final where the NYR are down on themselves. Looks like Rangers are handing it to Marlies on a silver platter.

2 AA from Royals (one being goalie)
NYR are #7, #16, #13, #24, #97 and the big goalie #31
Others - don't know.
One NYR D to Marlies
Sens pick up other NYR goalie and one D, so the rumour goes.
Leaves few at NYR.

2 Goalies: 1 Rangers, 1 Royals

Still need 4 or 5 skaters and no Nats listed yet hmmmmmmmmm, seems unlikely.

12:59 If I recall, the most from one team to go to pro hockey was from Marlies so all flash and no grind could be them.

Any chance to cut someone up, eh. Get a life. Those making predictions are no better than a palm reader and tarot card reading - all fakes.

Those not making predictions are smart because they are waiting to see what the season brings.

Besides, no cards signed yet and with the fickle minds of parents and coaches, what was agreed upon may not be.

All right I made the original post and after I filter thru all the egocentric crap it appears the Nats will have a decent competitive team that will likely be as strong or stronger than this past years team.
The idiots posting here seem to forget this league is NOT made up of 12 Marlie or current Rangers teams any more than it's made up of 12 Reps or Flyers teams. The AAA loop will span from the Marlies to the Reps or Flyers and have everything in between. Based on that, it appears at the very least the Nats be comfortably in the playoffs next year.

6:25 brings up a good point , I assume the coaching changes were made to improve the team and from the info on here (if true) it appears that some pretty good talent is comming in compared to years past. I haven't heard or read anyone say that the Nats are a shoe-in for the league title next year, i personally doubt that, but I do think they will be alot more competitive and should make the league alot more interesting.
