99 - AA WEST - IIIApril 15 2008 at 1:57 PM No score for this post | Anonymous (no login) |
| From previous thread...
"I was the original 99-AA poster with all the coaches and team rankings. I missed one team - West Mall... I had all coaches and teams correct beyond West Mall. I just knew they were loosing their top 4 -5 kids to other AA teams, so I figured they would not chance a AA team. Anyways, here are my rankings and take this to the bank:
Vaughan Panthers
Mississauga Braves
Toronto Eagles
Mississauga North Stars
Mississauga Jets
York Toros
Mississauga Terriers
Vaughan Rangers
Streetsville Tigers
Humber Valley Sharks
Toronto Royals
Toronto Ice Dogs
Mississauga Hornets
Duffield Devils
West Mall Lightning
There will be issues or there are already issues on some of these teams. I will not elaborate, but be very cautious. There are some very annoyed parents or there will be some very annoyed parents by the end of April. Mark my words. There are some snake oil salespeople looming in the 99AA ranks. They know who they are. They may just not know, that some folks are on to them this early. Some of us are watching.
This is not meant as a joke! I actually am trying to provide you with some solid insight. I hope it helps some of the newbies."
I think it's a fair assessment of skill from what I am hearing.
What tryouts do you think will be hot? Where can we expect big turnouts? |

The top teams will have the most skaters at their tryouts.
They will probably sign most of their players at the first tryout.
Vaughan Panthers
Mississauga Braves
Toronto Eagles
Mississauga North Stars
Mississauga Jets
York Toros

The teams that usually have the biggest draws for tryouts are:
Rangers
Jets
Braves
Huskies
North Stars
Tigers
Terriers
Lot's of Mississauga teams because of the proximity to Oakville and Brampton residents (LOR imports).
I have heard that the Braves and Terriers are full for imports already and I think the North Stars and Rangers are too. Jets, Huskies and Terriers still have room for imports. |

Vaughan Panthers
Mississauga Braves
Toronto Eagles
Mississauga North Stars
Mississauga Jets
York Toros
all those teams will still have at least 1 or 2 spots open
top teams never go to tryouts without ANY room to take a walkon super star
you are crazy if you think they'll turn someone down over another player they have said yes to that isn't that good! |

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 99 - AA WEST - IIINo score for this post | June 9 2008, 11:29 PM |
Hornets' players will go to where they belong if the team folds...A, select, Red or house league. There are always parents who will pay to play AA or AAA at any cost. Hornets know this. |

We all know that there are tiers, top, middle and bottom, can't got with 8 team, dumb for all teams to make the playoffs. So the lower teams get smoked playing the top teams, keep it close against the middle of the pack, and play a competative game against the bottom teams. Hornets may not challenge for a playoff spot, but they are needed in the loop |

I really doubt the Hornets will fold. Their Coach is the GM or Asst. Gm or something like that of the organization. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 99 - AA WEST - IIINo score for this post | June 27 2008, 5:32 PM |
If he doesn't have the players though he might not have a choice. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 99 - AA WEST - IIINo score for this post | June 27 2008, 5:58 PM |
Organizations with A teams below them would fold a AA team without enough players in a heart beat, especially if it is an unconnected coach. The organization would look at the AA team as a pain in the butt, although with potential to strenghtn their A team if they fold.
Hornets have no A teams & their coach is connected.
If the Hornets coach is their GM or whatever then he is under no pressure or rush from the higher ups in his organization. Let the other teams fold wait around & pick up the players looking for a team. As a GM & with connections with the GTHL executive he may be able to get a waiver from the GTHL minimums, or at least an extension if needed. |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: 99 - AA WEST - IIINo score for this post | June 27 2008, 6:17 PM |
lets hope they don't, although with 36 game season, with 13 teams, that means that each team would play each other 3 times. Works out nicely from a competitive point of view. Sometimes an 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th place is determind by the fact that one team may play the tougher ones more often and another team plays the weaker ones more often |
