4 on 4 in Napanee was the best experience for my kids. They met new friends, had fun and developed a few new skills. Great Job KH and team! |

Napanee has lost one to Quinte. Kingston has tryouts in August however I don't see anyone accept maybe goalie going to that. So possibly four skaters from last years team and a goalie could be back. |

LOL..that is funny. However the 98 team is a mix of kids from alot of small communities. We have a few from Kingston as well. I think it is great that there is so much interest in summer hockey from the surrounding area. I do believe both teams had all its players play rep with 5 going AAA. This is all about development...obviously we developed our kids because 10 of our 98's played major Atom last year. I think our parents are great and support their kids and the program the way it should be supported. If the child smiles comming off the ice after a hard workout and ask "when our next practice coach?" mission accomplished. I think TV had a great team last year...too bad they lost some of their talent.

The peterborough kids were tv's talent. Heard they got 2 second strings in goal now too. TV is more about who you know that the Napanee team. My boy plays north of Belleville and we're glad we were asked to come to Napanee this summer. Kids and parents are both a good group. Coaches are working them hard without having to scream at the players....not so with TV whose coach is a known yeller. Thanks Napanee for picking us to play |

Actually 2:52
The person who organized the napanee spring hockey does not coach any of the napanee minor hockey teams. His kids have only been in Napanee for 2 years, so it is not who you know. He chose kids who wanted to work hard and parents that got along. Those who didn't, did not get asked. Who wants a summer of bad attitudes...that doesn't make it fun at all. |

Looking at Napanee Minor Hockey website and don't see '08 tourney details regarding date change. Can anyone confirm?
Southern Counties loop only has 3 BB out of 15 teams. Caledonia and Tilsonburg will be dominant and fight for top stop. Ingersoll close behind if AAA returns. Have to go further West to see stronger B and BB teams (Stathroy, Listowel, Mt. Brydges, Mooretown etc)

I think actually tweed will be a surprise in the area if they get some goaltending. Most small communities will suffer with AAA swallowing up alot talent. Napanee looks to have a good returning squad, I have heard the goalie could be going to Kingston...NF will suffer from K-Town AAA too bad they would be competetive. Deseronto will need to get a tender....returning majors are talented however the talent is few and far between. Tamworth lost their star - tough year ahead. Loyalist will skate all but one minors. Kingeton cougars and titans have joined forces..not sure what that does to the BB loop. |

well now Napanee will be the biggest threat this side of toronto for the atom crown
good returning players with lots of talent and possible a good goalie if he doesnt go to kingston AAA
possibly two best defence in the area of 98 will be the anchor for Napanee
if you want a good test or a OMHA prelimariy i would suggest the napanee tournament would be the place to be |

It is really unfortunate about BV and his young lads. They are both very solid hockey players but
that isn't/wasn't enough for him and he pushed them they way beyond any reasonable persons limits.
There is no question that he is one of the better skating and stick handling instructors in the area,
but as a "father" he is severely lacking. You would think someone who has been around the game as
long as he has would be somewhat reserved, but he is probably the most animated, coaching from
the stands parents I have ever seen.
I truly do hope for the best for RV and HV, they are both fine kids as well as fine
hockey players.

I can't recall all of the teams that may have been strong east of Toronto two years ago at BB level. But I do recall that Midland was pretty strong. However, never did see them play. Port Perry was pretty steady, with excellent goaltending. Although I think they may have lost some to COW. |

BV is a sad situation. I know many parents who would pay a million bucks to have their kids play like the v boys. My kids have been with BV for 4 years now and I would never hesitate to leave my kids with him. I truly beleive that there is some misunderstanding at what bv was doing. I know they are just kids but he was instilling what it takes to go to the next level and I have no doubt that they would have gone. There is a fine line between abuse and disapline. I have used lines myself for my kids that make me think twice at what we are trying to accomplish. In order for anyone to reach beyond their capabilites one must be broken and rebuilt. One must be pushed farther then their mind and body will allow them to go. When they reach this point they will be one of few..this what separates good from great. I do not believe in smacking kids..I don't need to be mistaken for a kid beater. I would say however I am instilling what it takes to succeed in sports and in life. Anyone can take a picture with them infront of a mountain....very few can take a picture from the top!
Work ethic/commitment/desire/pain/fearlessness/willingness/honesty/vision/goalsetter/winner
at some point you must push your child to see beyond the psp and playstation...and they are going to hate you for it...but some day love you for it. |

Not sure of any one tourney that would bring good BB teams together early in the year. Highland (Minden/Haliburton) usually attracts 2-3 top quality teams. Mooretown hosts their own, but I don't have experience there. Hespler had one last year with 4 soild teams, but was only a 4 team tourney. KW and Guelph offer good A tourneys, a real test for the kids.
I see Napanee Atoms went to the Bell Capital in the A division last year, with some success. IS the BB offering not competitive there?

They bumped Napanee from B to A because of their showing at the Pemboke regional silverstick. Which was good. The team did very well at Pembroke, but I do question how they level the playing field in Pembroke. OMHA 'BB' teams such as Napanee and New Hamburgh have to play in 'A' division, not a problem with that. But ODMHA does not have 'BB' rating just 'B'. So centres such as Pembroke (pop over 15,000) and Brockville play at the B Level.Problem with this. I know that Napanee does not have Home Depot and Sport Chek stores like Pembroke. Regardless, I recommend that good OMHA BB teams play at 'A' level in tournaments. O.K I will quit whining now. |

pretty hard to find any BB teams in the east part of this region
napanee, pec and then the next one was lindsay, port hope or port perry i believe
the rest here are either B or CC teams need big numbers to go to BB
omha would be better off to have all local centers play against each other in a loop
call it the 401 loop everybody from Gan to Quinte West all play each other irreagrless of your centers ranking
then break off for playdowns
at 1.25/litre rather drive 45 minutes than 2.5 hours for a novice rep game
with stone mills( tamworth ) and Deseronto struggling Napanee may benefit from having a few players come to there center time will tell
guess best thing would be to go up to the other side of toronto to see whats there for BB teams
so caledonia fan what are some good ones |

I think we should convince ktown to put a second entry team in the BB loop.
North frontenac - Gan - Kingston - Loyalist - Napanee - Stirling - Belleville - Trenton - Tweed - Brighton - 10 teams East west division - 30 game schedule with east eams playing an extra game against eachother and west playing extra game ..... home and home everyone else. It would be a fun season...what we save in gas $ we can play extra games. Mid-season tournament would be fun. Or even a season ending tournament before all teams break off for OMHA playoffs. Ok let me have it.... |

Port Perry was steady 2 years ago, lost to Midland in BB East finals. Lost to Napanee 4-2 and I think tied or lost by a goal the other game. Port is real weak this season.
Goalie playing AAA along with 3 others - Atom and 4 playing AAA minor Atom for COW. |

Easier to find challenges in A loop than BB. Tillsonburg and Caledonia from Southern Counties Loop. Heading West the following should ice good B-BB teams, Strathroy, Listowel, Mooretown, Petrolia, Mt. Brydges. To the north, Midland is always decent, maybe Collingwood and Highland.
Closer to home for us, good tests in Niagara loop with A teams, Grimsby, Fort Erie, Welland, and St. Catharines Warriors. We'll probably look here for early tests.

The Napanee Comets are made up of kids from different area centers. They come from Kingston, Amherstview, Picton, Napanee, Deseronto and Tweed. They are just a bunch of kids that want to work hard, have fun and get better.
The 1997 and 1998 Comets teams went 5-0, winning the Canlan May Madness AA championship this past weekend. Good Job! |

Speaking of Deseronto, any new talk of amalgamation with them, Napanee, and Stone Mills? There likely wouldn't be much impact on the First entry teams, (maybe a couple players on each team on average), but the AE teams would be very very strong.
I expect the Deseronto Pee-wee and Bantam teams to make serious runs next season, but other than that they are really, really hurting.

it's funny how everyone thinks AAA is the gateway to the NHL. So many dreamers. I know at the investment of $5000 a year I truly want to enjoy going to the rink to watch my kid play hockey. I enjoy watching development and acheivment through hard work. I also enjoy socializing with the parents and not having to worry that someone is stabbing me in the back as I walk away. Go to a AAA tryout and watch friends who don't even speak to you...see moms who have spent all day getting ready for the rink....watch the kids so nervous they are ready to puke and are to afraid to play because they might make a mistake. I think the level of competeion is great however if you want to compete you can find strong teams at every level. Last year was prime example of how far a team can go watching port perry take shots at teh big centers and do very well. We wonder why we love this game..it truly brings out the best in us. |

Does Napanee have a 99 Comets team? We played against two good kids this year or are they on the 98 team? |

I always thought Tampering in Minor Hockey usually meant trying to get kids from one centre to play for another at the same level. But based on the previous post I must be wrong. I guess all people involved in spring hockey must be tampering. |

Any summer skating instruction in Napanee this year? There is a lady there that I have heard good things about, is she still running a power skating session? If she is, when does it start and who do I contact? |

Did this Lady run on ice skating sessions this past winter in Napanee? If so she is likely the instructor that the figure skating club uses. As well last summer the figure skating club ran a week long summer program with a different lady. Other than that there is not much else that run by a female instructor in Napanee. |

Their isn't any 99 comets team. Not many kids at this level. However the two you are talking about are good. One plays 99 Beast out of Kingston. The other does not play any spring hockey other than the 4 on 4 league that just wrapped up. |
