Caledon lost players to Brampton and Richmond hill, Oakville lost players to GTHL, Orangevilles big guns went to Halton and GTHL. Burlington should be tops in the tri-county.

From Tri-County:
Caledon will probably not repeat. They lost players to G and Brampton. Well coached though
Orangeville only had 2 players and if they're gone they'll be mid pack at best
Oakville and Burlington will be very strong if they keep their teams together
Brampton will fall to bottom of pack

It is Aurora to lose this year. Not one of their top kids even went out for AAA tryouts.

3 or 4 would have made YSE but they stayed in AA.

TNT same story. No kids left for AAA. 2 kids there are AAA material

Markham picked up 2 new goalies, well needed. One from RH and other an import I think. Lost one mid pack kid to GTHL.

Pickering 99 AA will be strong. AAA player from RH not only returned to Pickering, but was convinced to play AA--great coach. Also, a returning player could have easily played AAA, but stayed as well. And, goalies keep getting better.

Lost a bunch to the G and AAA - 5-7 along with both goalies

Will likely start slow and come on near the end - A Novice team won OMHA's so good players coming up. Likely not quite as good as last year but pretty close.

Watch out for Milton, they should be strong, Guelph should have a AAA team this year so good luck beating up on Burlington again this year. Georgetown stayed the same but with teams above them getting weaker they could challange.

Guelph way to high - They'll have to field a triple team this year so they wont even sniff 3rd

Flamborough way to low - Not a powerhouse, but won't sit in the basement either.

Georgetown will be 4th or so - still good team

YS League

1. Aurora - lost no kids to AAA. 3 or 4 could of made AAA but stayed at home in AA. Definite OMHA favourites.
2. TNT - lost no kids to AAA. Have 2 AAA caliber kids
3. Markham - lost 2 quality kids. Picked up 2 from AAA, 2 new goalies can only help them.
4. Georgina - lost 1 kid to AAA. Not either of their 2 best though.
5. Barrie - still improving
6. Richmond Hill. 6 new kids from A team. Both goalies left, one to Markham, the other went Novice AAA. They will struggle.
7. Newmarket, just a lack of talent here to compete. Lost one goalie and one defencemen to AAA.

Ajax spanked Pickering in the Playoffs last year, but Pickering finished in 2nd in the league.

Pickering lost a good D to the G, and picked up a player from the RH AAA team do to a lack of ice time. That kid will help that Pickering team next season, including 2 players from A that moved up to AA.

As for Ajax, 2 more players from the AA team made the AAA A/P team. This Ajax AA team is in for a long season.

A kid in LOR has a Total of 32 AA teams they can tryout for.
27 in G and 5 in the OMHA.

Oakville will do okay this year but will not repeat as Tri County champs losing this many players. While A team call ups will be good (OMHA's), they'll be average at best in AA. They're well coached so they'll get closer to the top by end of season. Burlington will do well and so will Milton

Oakville 99's are loaded with talent. Earlier thread said 7 players left because they didn't want to go down to A to play for the coach. The point is that they could have been replaced and maybe some would have been sent down to A if they didn't leave. All left to AA teams in the G, that will all be stronger. Know of at least 15 kids, that moved on to the G from Oakville, most AA, some AAA. All were good enough to play for the Rangers, just not enough room, issue's with the bench, or preference, made them choose the G. AAA, AA, A & AE, will win their respective loop hands down.

Could tell you of another dozen that could easily improve any A team in the G as well. Red HL is as good as any select team.

Oakville hockey at this age level will be a juggernaut, all the way up to their minor midget year.

Re: Oakville AA

June 18 2008, 9:28 PM

Truth about Oakville 99 AA's:
-9 new team members (most left voluntarily), few that remain from last year's team have serious concerns about HC and have considered leaving too
-one of the largest wholesale changes ever heard of in minor hockey...particularly after a very strong season (07/08)
- MOHA strongly considered not giving HC the position this year...main reason he got position again was b/c of an old-boys-club ally on MOHA board
- MOHA realized they made a huge mistake and plans are already being made to replace HC next season (09/10), if not sooner
Kids that left "cut the head coach" for the following reasons...
-HC is very weak with misguided motivations for coaching: supporting his own child and winning
-poor at development, motivation and being objective in player selections
-call-ups from A/houseleague past two years are primarily friends of HC, not ranked in top quartile of A...one new HL player, whose father coaches HC's daughter
-HC's kid is bottom 2 on the team and he is played like top 2 (all key sit's)
- majority of new 99 AAA players are from A team and were not even under consideration by AA HC

This is banter and speculation. In all the loops, you can make the same statement, Top A teams in the O can beat the bottom AA in the G. Top A G can beat bottom AA in the O. It goes on and on, with really no way of proving it. The last years OHF's prove that the G had the advantage, when you look at the top teams in each group. Next year the O maybe the team. GTHL AA dad who's son could have played AA in home town, but for the convinence of no am practices, juggling the work schedule and what I perceive to be certain advantages that may only apply to my son and his buddies from town that play with him on the team. We chose the G.

Will the price of gas make me regret my decision, no, will it make me reconsider 09/10 maybe. If he ends up playing in his home town, he'll be the target of some pissed off parent who's kid got demoted to A. I'll be one of the "coach's buddies", who doesn't deserve to be there.

The kids just want to play and really I can't see them wondering if they are better than the teams in the G, never heard that convo the last 2 years. Can't see the kids in the G talking about being better than the O.

Just a bunch of adults arguing about what came first, the chicken or the egg!
