Thats great that st. kitts is in clarington. Are they an "A" team
For sure A Teams are : whitby, burlington, clarington, orangeville, oakville,
mississauga, peterborough, St. Kitts
That would make 8 "A" teams in total for the Provincials
Please correct if I'm wrong on any teams ? |

Take out Oakville and insert Halton and that is your top 8

Who has Halton Played? |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: yepNo score for this post | June 29 2008, 10:38 AM |
There will probably only be 6 teams in A provincials.
Clarington, Whitby , Burlington, Orangeville, St. Kitts, & Miss.
Oakville, Peterboro, & Halton will be in B |
|

From what I have seen so far this year. Clarington and Burlington are clear favourites.
Orangeville and Whitby are contenders
Missy, Halton and Oakville are outsiders
Peterborough are ranked B an appear to be just that. Don't know much about St. Kitts. Have they beaten an A team this year? |

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: yepNo score for this post | June 30 2008, 8:17 AM |
"Where does Pickering fit in?"
West Durham got a pre-season rating of "B" and did not register for any of the 5 "A" tourneys that have taken place so I guess they are "B"
|
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: yepNo score for this post | June 30 2008, 9:06 AM |
St. Kitts has only played one "A" team so far, Burlington. Lost both times. Goaltending was an issue and RL scored at will. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: yepNo score for this post | June 30 2008, 11:37 AM |
Durham has played Whitby 2 twice they tied and Durham lost 3-2 the second game
Since it looks like Whitby 2 is going to be rated a B maybe even a C team (they have only won one game all year and gotten killed by all the "A" teams) I would think Durham is B team as well |

Halton, is younger but way more disciplined than Orangeville. They are more of a contender to play in A, but will probably end up B1 due to some injuries and all their 99's. They did smoke Orangeville in NOTL 5-0 though. |
|
anonymous (no login) | Re: lots of things ...No score for this post | July 1 2008, 7:36 PM |
Halton can compete in A and should suck it up and play A. They always say they are a powerhouse in lacrosse so why not step up and prove it! If Orangeville goes A which I'm sure they will Halton should also. Oakville should drop down to B1. |
|

Clarington played Novice A last year with 10 minors. Never beat an A team before provincials but never lost to a B team, therefore best decision is to challenge players and play up. Came in 4th out of 6 teams in provincials so it was the right spot for them. The number of minors should not have any bearing on what level you play. If you can compete at the higher level (even losing by a couple of goals) then that is where you should be. There is a different style of play between A and B levels so if you can play A to better develop your kids, then do so. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: lots of things ...No score for this post | July 2 2008, 3:15 PM |
Agreed, number of minors should not determine which level you play. Results make the determination. Minors have more impact on level in tyke but you will see more minors on 'A' teams in Novice and Peewee. |

Yeah, I can see your point, those Clarington boys must really suck at hockey. Their past three seasons have been horrible. They shouldn't be allowed to take a break and play another sport as their hockey is really suffering. lol |

The " TEAM " that plays the best team game will win the Hamilton Super Series; and stops RL, if he in fact is fully recovered from his injury he
sustained in Owen Sound. Just over a month until the Provincials. Good Luck
to all teams this weekend. The team out of whitby, burlington, and clarington that doesn't have to play one of these 3 in the semi finals sunday
morning will have a little easier time in the tournament; that team will be more fatigued than their opponent in the Finals. |
|

Thanks for the info Clarington parent.
What happens if Burlington plays the best "team game". Do they still need to stop their own kid? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Hamilton Super SeriesNo score for this post | July 4 2008, 5:10 PM |
Burlington is a very strong team and RL has the ability to have
them go from a very good team, to a dominate team. Relax, it was meant to
be a compliment. This close to the Provincials, it is all about the team game. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Hamilton Super SeriesNo score for this post | July 4 2008, 5:16 PM |
Whitby will surprise alot of people. Nobody thought they would win the field
provincials and clarington only beat them 5-4 in the owen sound final in a very hard fought great game. |

Clarington 6 Whitby 5 in OT
Congrats to Clarington. You beat us twice by a goal but we are getting closer.
I have a question for the Burlington Coach / father of 7. This is not a knock against your son by any means , he is a great athelete. However, he was a complete non factor in our semis. He was still hobbling a bit & looked exhausted. Then we find out you had him playing for the peewee`s as well as his own novice team even though he was hurt. Contrary to some posts on here, Burlington is predicated on your goaltender & your son. You must have decided it was more important to put your ego ahead of your sons welfare or the novice team. You , not your son, let the Burlington Novice team down. You should be ashamed of yourself & need to get your priorities straight. |

Wow ! These 3 teams are close; double o/t between whitby/burlington
this morning in the semis, and o/t again in the final between clarington/whitby. Great lacrosse til the bitter end; its too bad one team, as also happened to clarington 2 yrs ago in the finals at Hamilton, had to play a very tough exhausting game in the morning when the other team had a pretty easy go in the morning and then meet in the finals. Hamilton should
really look at a new format as it penalizes the team that plays the tougher game in the morning; then they are exhausted in the finals later that day. Hopefully the clarington tournament doesn't do this, although orangeville,
missy or st. kitts may give one of the top 3 a better go. Congrats to all 3 teams and now the real season is about to begin. |

7:11 YOU SHOULD MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Congrats on Great LaxNo score for this post | July 7 2008, 8:08 AM |
Simple answer is that it was his choice to play or not. He never played a Peewee game before a Novice game on the same day. Novice came first. The hobble was a charlie horse and not his ankle. The fact that he didn't accomplish much yesterday morning had a lot more to do with great defensive play by Whitby. Congratulations to both Whitby and Clarington for a great final. |
|

I wasn't at the final but heard the big Whitby goalie got hurt in the semis against Burlington
is this true?
Could hurt them come prov. if he is out to long

The big Whitby goalie played an outstanding game in the final. he came into the game midway thru the 1`st & shut down Clarington`s big guns. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Congrats on Great LaxNo score for this post | July 7 2008, 10:31 AM |
TO 8:08
Are you for real? What coach would allow his star player, a player who the rest of the team counts on, & can`t win without, play on another team, risking further injury to an already weakened ankle? If he had a charley horse, why did you let him play in the peewee final? You parents are unbelievable. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Congrats on Great LaxNo score for this post | July 7 2008, 10:22 AM |
OK mom, but 7.11 is right. You let your team down. Your inflated ego`s always has come first, & that comes from alot of Burlington`s disgruntled parents. |
|

Who are the kids to watch on St. Catherines? Do they have a legitimate shot at the Provincials? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Congrats on Great LaxNo score for this post | July 7 2008, 12:10 PM |
They have a very well balanced team. I don't think you can key on a certain player. They are well coached and play hard all the time. #4 is very fast and strong- when his stick skills develop, watch out. |
|
VanillaLax (Login laxMe) | Re: Congrats on Great LaxNo score for this post | July 23 2008, 2:47 PM |
St Catharines have some nice players to watch for sure....#4...is big and strong and is a team player with lots of speed...#5 is such a smart player makes you think he is 21....#16 are minors and play with true heart and desire....#17 is really coming into his own and is playing well...they have a nice well rounded team and will do well |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Congrats on Great LaxNo score for this post | July 7 2008, 10:28 AM |
So from 10:18 post he is not hurt at all then
Did he actually play in the semis as well
As for the Burlington player can a player actually play for two teams in the same tournament?
I know hockey doesn't allow that.
Just a question as I am trying to learn more about this game |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Congrats on Great LaxNo score for this post | July 7 2008, 10:58 AM |
It looks like only 3 teams have a realistic shot at winning the provincials.
- Clarington seems to be the clear choice with 3 tournament wins & a silver. They are a well coached team with a potent offence.
Whitby has a good shot at beating Clarington, They have only lost by a goal 3-4 times. Their big goalie & work ethic make them a contender.
- Burlington will be a long shot. Whitby proved again in Hamilton that #7 (Burlington`s only offensive threat), can be shut down easily . Their goaltender is probably 1 of the best. They will have trouble beating Clarington or Whitby when it counts.
