Talent level is 4 good teams, 4 average teams and 4 that would get out of the round robin at the McDonalds. Its no different than any other touranmet |

I am amazed someone in Ontario who apparenly isn't even going to the tournament has been able to scout all of the teams. |

How is it a waste of time and money? It is simply a hockey-themed family vacation.
If it was about the hockey, nobody would be foolish enough spend $1000 for every game their kid plays in.
Just let them have their fun, and stop judging. |

Yes it always kills me how people on here say that everything is a "waste of time and money". I read everything from AAA hockey is a waste, spring hockey is a waste and now the Brick tournament is a waste. If your kid can't make it, you are not able to commit or you simply don't feel your family can afford it, why would you make yourself sound like a complete loser on N54 by cutting up others who are going? Its not big deal, not everyone can go for many reasons. Some people can. Let them go and wish them luck. I'm sure they will have a blast and play some good hockey too. By the way, my son is not going to the tournament. |

I had the oppurtunity to play, and now I regret not letting my son go. I have seen the players get better with the expierence they have had this spring. |

You get the same experience playing here for alot less money. Its a huge cash grab. |

I agree. Go if you want but don't try to persuade us that going to Edmonton is any better a hockey experience than playing spring hockey at home in Toronto. For goodness sakes, it's EDMONTON! |

Never the best kids, just rich parents that can afford to go. With all the money the Bulldogs make over the years. They should pay for the kids to go to Edmonton. |

Why do I get the feeling that this tournament would suddenly be the most amazing ever if Regional Gold were going? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 2008 Brick Invitational - Go Ontario GoNo score for this post | June 30 2008, 12:12 PM |
I wouldn't spend the money if they were going either. Regardless of the name on the front it would still be a huge cash grab and waste of time. |

12:09 must be very familiar with the collective mindset of JL and friends. There were only 4 worth while tournaments every year and they are the finest anywhere because of RG has chosen to attend. |

Funny how someone tries to turn this to a RG thing and it isn't someone from RG. To the players that decided to fork out the cash and spend there summer vaca in Edmonton have fun. RG Parent |

To each their own. If parents want to have a family vacation in Edmonton along with some good hockey, so be it. If parents decide not to do that so be it. But, it is probably a jealous parent on here that keeps saying its a cash grab for rich parents. So, take your kids to Wonderland, camping or wherever it is that you take them. Leave the Brick families out of it, as I'm sure they couldn't care about your perspective. Again, my kid is a 98' and not going to the Brick Tourney. |

I bet if 2:34 got the free ride offer from Pro hockey that they all thought was coming there way he would be singing a different tune. As was proven previously, RG had nothing left to add, so there were no free ride handouts this year. You were told that it was going to be this way back in December when you made your choice. Now, live with it. |

There was more than one kid on RG that was asked to play for PH Brick. They chose RG not as their second choice but as their first choice. |

PH Brick asked the whole RG team to jump on board for the free ride. We all chose not to go. |

I wonder if the Bulldogs will get more than the 2 points they got last year. What a HUGE waste of money for 5 games of hockey. Cost about $1000/game. Fools. |

You gold parents need to get over the fact that there are no free rides for you this year. I am sure it won't stop some of you nutbars from claiming ownership to every goal one of the ex-gold players score or assist on. I will say it now for you. Pro Brick couldn't have done it without you. Thanks for the contribution. |

6:37 be nice imagine that poor goalie dad from Pro Hockey. His kid will play 3 games which means it is costing him $2000 per game so those 3 shots cost him $700 or $230 per shot. LMAO |

Actualy what I think is that this tournament is not what it use to be.
The top US teams no longer go.
Boston, St. Louis, No teams from Jersey or Long Island. Where is the Chicago entry.
Who is to say this even the best Detroit could put together.
I agreee it is one of the best. But no better than Vegas or Boston or Ronald McDonald. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 2008 Brick Invitational - Go Ontario GoNo score for this post | July 2 2008, 10:48 PM |
Las Vegas is more fun than Edmonton. |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: 2008 Brick Invitational - Go Ontario GoNo score for this post | July 2 2008, 10:59 PM |
DRW - surprised at their first result as well, checked the game stats, no LB or CK from STL???? PH are better than the TBD but the MIS are not a strong Brick team. Parents - could have saved a lot of money and played these Brick teams and better competiton at the Ron Mac or OTTF. Ya I know, insert the family vacation comment here, but seriously if I was taking my family on a summer vacation the West Edmonton Mall is probably not my first choice and this tournament appears sub-par to other events in terms of competition. |

Conn. has 4 imports from Western NY. why could the 3 St Louis kids not play for Detroit like they did @ RM?

Detroit does not have the 3 stl players and that makes a huge difference if you have seen them play as a team such as the Ronald Mac.
Not sure why they are not there but it makes a big difference for sure. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 2008 Brick Invitational - Go Ontario GoNo score for this post | July 2 2008, 11:06 PM |
So at the end of the day this is a sub par tournament with only a few top teams and a HUGE cost to go. Not worth it at all. |
