Genetically every woman's body has a predetermined breast size. Most women don’t get full potential breast growth during puberty because of a number of factors, which may have occurred during that time and which may have affected her hormone levels and thus her breast development. These factors can be bad dieting habits, shortage of minerals and vitamins, high levels of stress, and lack of exercise or over exercise. Hormone imbalance has been found to be a leading cause to poor breast development during puberty. Furthermore, later in life due to age or childbirth a fluctuation of female hormones can perpetuate problems such as sagging and shrinking of a woman’s breasts.

During childhood, estrogens are secreted in small quantities. Following puberty however, the quantity of estrogens secreted under the influence of the pituitary hormones (FHS, LH) increases some 20 fold or more. At this time sexual organs change from those of a child to that of an adult. The external genitalia enlarge. Estrogens effect on the breast causes fat deposition, development of the stromal tissues of the breast and growth of an extensive ductile system. Along with estrogen, progesterone and prolactin are secreted in higher quantities from the ovaries after puberty. These two hormones are responsible for growth of the lobules and alveoli of the breast determining growth and function of these structures. In summary, the estrogens initiate growth of the breast and are responsible for the characteristic external appearance of the mature female breast but do not complete converting the breasts into milk producing organs.

Progesterone promotes development of the lobules and alveoli of the breasts causing the alveolar cells to proliferate to enlarge and to become secretory in nature. However, progesterone does not cause the alveoli to secrete milk unless stimulated by prolactin from the pituitary. Progesterone cause the breasts to swell partially due to changes in the lobules and alveoli, but also partly from increased fluid retention in sub-cutaneous tissues.

In females where the ovaries don't produce sufficient amounts of estrogen and progesterone under developed breasts may occur. As females age, the ovaries slowly begin to produce less hormones, resulting in sagging smaller breasts. Scientific evidence shows that additional estrogen and progesterone may enhance breast growth.

Following herbs are traditionally used for natural, side-effect-free female breast firming, enlargement, hormonal balancing and related disorders.

Fenugreek
minimizes symptoms of menopause, relieves constipation, controls diabetes, reduces cholesterol, soothes sore throat pain and coughs, eases minor indigestion, relieves diarrhea, increases breast size and milk production in nursing mothers. From ancient times through the late 19th century, fenugreek played a major role in herbal healing. Then it fell by the wayside. Now things are once again looking up for the herb whose taste is a combination of celery and maple syrup. Modern scientific research has found that fenugreek can help reduce cholesterol levels, control diabetes and minimize the symptoms of menopause

Saw Palmetto
Saw palmetto is a low-growing palm, native to the West Indies and the Atlantic coast from South Carolina to Florida, whose berries have been cherished by herbalists and natural medicine practitioners for years. Saw palmetto is now a popular and effective treatment for prostate enlargement in men but has its origins in natural medicine for natural breast enlargement, and is still recommended today by naturopathic physicians for increasing breast size. It is also used as an aphrodisiac, for the treatment of impotence in men, and for inhibited sexual desire in women. In one of its more exotic uses, saw palmetto has been employed as a sexual stimulant ingredient in love potions. Saw palmetto has been used for centuries. Native Americans, dating back to pre-Mayan civilizations, used the berries for food and medicine and particularly for breast disorders in women. Early American botanists noted that animals who were fed with these berries grew sleek and robust, experienced restored sexual vigor and improved muscle tone. Saw palmetto berry also tones the urethra, and it may be used to uphold the healthy function of the thyroid gland and urinary system. This remarkable herb has no side effects or drug interactions. It's breast enhancement effects stem from phyto-nutrients that stimulate breast tissue, increasing health and size.

Fennel
Fennel has been used for centuries in breast enhancement and to promote milk production in new mothers. The herb's history is similar to the story of fenugreek above. It is second only to Fenugreek in estrogenic compounds. Fennel is also used to treat amenorrhea (lack of period), angina, asthma, heartburn, high blood pressure and to increase sexual desire in women. It is rich in the phyto-nutrients that increase breast size and is a great addition to the program.

Dong Quai
Dong Quai is an aromatic herb that grows in China, Korea, and Japan. The reputation of Don Quai is second only to Ginseng and is considered the ultimate, all-purpose woman's tonic herb. It is used for almost every gynecological complaint from regulating the menstrual cycle to treating menopausal symptoms caused by hormonal changes. Dong Quai Extract is the supreme female tonic in traditional Chinese medicine. It has been used successfully to alleviate PMS and menopausal symptoms by helping to normalize hormone levels. Chinese herbalists prescribe Dong Quai in combination with other herbs to ease menstrual cramps. Dong Quai contains at least six different compounds, known as coumarins, which are thought to help relieve cramping and regulate blood flow. In addition, the root is rich in vitamin B-12, which plays a role in the production of new blood cells. Scientists believe that one unique mechanism of action of Dong Quai is to promote natural progesterone synthesis, a key component for breast enlargement. Dong Quai contains highly active phytoestrogens and is believed to increase metabolism within the uterus and ovaries. Dong Quai has also been credited with immune enhancing, and anti-tumor activity.

Damiana
Damiana extracts have been shown, in the test tube, to weakly bind to progesterone receptors. This is key for breast enlargement. Almost all cultural traditions in the world have favorite herbs that have the reputation of increasing libido and of reversing impotence. For one of them, Damiana, such a reputation was even carried into its botanical name, Turnera aphrodisiaca. Damiana is an excellent strengthening remedy for the nervous system. It has an ancient reputation as an aphrodisiac. While this may or may not be true, it has a definite tonic action on the central nervous and the hormonal system creating the environment for breast enlargement.

Blessed Thistle
Blessed Thistle is a plant found primarily in Asia and Europe. In Europe, Blessed Thistle is regarded as an excellent appetite stimulant, and is used in the manufacture of "bitters" to be taken before meals to stimulate stomach and intestinal activity, and aid in digestion and circulation. It is also used in the treatment of constipation and flatulence and reduces bloating. It is considered an excellent heart tonic and blood purifier, allowing the breast enlargement herbs to work more effectively. The flowers of the Blessed Thistle are commonly brewed to make a slightly bitter, and sweet tea that has a mild diuretic activity. Blessed Thistle tea is used by contemporary herbalists for the treatment of a variety of liver problems, such as jaundice and hepatitis. Because painful menstruation can involve the liver, Blessed Thistle is a common component of herbal formulas used to relieve menstrual symptoms. This plant has been used by herbalists to increase the flow of milk in breast feeding. Named after ancient beliefs that the plant possessed supernatural qualities, Blessed Thistle has been used primarily as a female tonic to support the reproductive system. Blessed Thistle is frequently used to regulate the hormone balance in women and alleviate painful menstrual cramps. It has also been used to increase and enrich the milk of nursing women. Blessed thistle is a common component of herbal formulas used to relieve menstrual symptoms and should be included as a catalyst for breast enlargement.

Black Cohosh
Long used by herbal practitioners to treat asthma and colds, black cohosh is also used for nervousness, for menstrual pains, and as an adjuvant to the child birth process.

Dandelion Root
Used as a general tonic, and has been used to improve breast tonicity after childbirth.

Red Raspberry
Commonly used during pregnancy to strengthen the tone and tissue of the womb, some believe red raspberry can help strengthen and tone other female specific tissue as well such as breast tissues.

Nigella Sativa
has been used for thousands of years in the middle east for allergies, asthma, and for treating immune disorders. Recent research has shown that Nigella Sativa increases the number of mammary cells in laboratory animals. Humans tend to react similarily to compounds with mammary effects.
Great research has been done on Nigella Sativa in regards to it's anti-cancer properties, especially breast cancer with promising results.
