Thanks for the swift reply, I really appreciate it!

The numbers on the mechanism are:

40 358825

it also says

1342 Seven Jewels Unadjusted

and on the back of the case

Acier Inoxydable Fab Suisse
1980079

Many thanks once more for your time an help, I really am grateful - the
watch was left to me by my Dad and I've always wondered about it!
