Here's the scoop... the MACHA Board of Directors met last Saturday at the East Alton Ice Arena. Those in attendance were:

Greg Killoran, John Lamond, Benjamin Alexander, Cameron Estes, Bob Hughes, Brian Neighbors (player rep), Craig Buntenbach, and myself(Larry Thatcher). Many topics were discussed , and the minutes to the meeting will be posted shortly. The meeting was very productive.

In regards to the overtime situation, there was a lenghty discussion that included, 5 on 5 sudden death, 5 on 5 sudden death(with a 3 man shootout), going directly to a 3 on 3 shootout at the end of regulation, as well as other ways to end the game without a tie. At the end of the discussion, the unanimous decision was that we remain with the 5 on 5 shoot out, as directed by the ACHA (with no shoot out), and that this topic be discussed at our annual league meeting next March, so that we can make a decision based on input from all MACHA teams.

Great idea for the ties in the league. I personally hate ties, I think a good idea for this year would be just like the NHL, start the overtime with a four on four and then do a five on five shootout. I think it would be better with five players in a shootout instead of three. This actually gives the goalie a chance to win a game, if it is three shooters you are more likely to win on luck.
