This is a REAL issue band for the RAF since 1974 through today I shall post the specs of the MOD on this which I have from the maker in the UK. This was just made in an order of 3000 pieces for
the MOD and will not likely be made again for some time if at all.
I think it is a relic of history since its intended use was to protect the pilot’s wrist from the heat of the metal of the wristwatch in the event of a fire – YIKES – seems like that was the least important thing to worry about.
Of course today with more advanced clothing NOMEX and fire-retardant materials for the canopy and also less worry from Ack Ack and more from a missile – this is a thing which is still a istorical item that persists. There is a limited supply of 25 pieces I have – do not know if I can get more. These are on sale on the PX board - limit is one per person unless I have some left?
