I failed my year 2 hnd - does anyone know if year 1 counts as diploma?

(I know, too many parties and lectures that sent me to sleep!) However, despite that, I did manage to pass all bar two subjects at the end of year 2. Whilst I know that I cannot put the HND on my RPL, can I put the rest of my qualification down and does it class as just a diploma if I only passed year 1?

thanks for your help!

Jon

An incomplete HND will not count as a diploma, unfortunately. You will need to do the RPL.

I only failed 2 modules..

sigh. Should I mention it/the modules I passed (only failed 2/12) at all because some of the items such as algorithmic design and the analysis parts are directly mentioned on the RPL?
As an aside, I recently read the contents of a current "computing degree" whilst my stepson was doing it. It shocked me how simplistic they seem to have become compared to the stuff they used to ask us on just the HND...
If only there was a way of just doing the coursework and exams without attending the tedious lectures. Reading their course material I realised I could do at least the first two years in just a couple of months!

thanks

Jon

Hi Jon,

The RPL is a recognition of anything that you have learnt. Since you have learnt from your modules, then you can include these learnings within the RPL. If you can obtain transcripts with the pass-marks, then include those as well.

Clearly these modules on their own couldn't be taken as an equivalent to a degree, but if they did then you wouldn't need to do the RPL! But as part of the whole RPL, they are very valid.

Good luck!
