Hi,

I have the foll. qualifications:
1. B.E. (Electronics and Communication Engineering) - full time - 4 years.
2. M.S. (Master of Science in Software Systems) - Distance learning (i.e. correspondence course) - 2 years - 10 subjects plus Project work

My work experience is 6 years (IT field - C/C++) - full time.

I have a few queries on RPL / Skill Assessment:
-----------------------------------------------------
1. If I apply for RPL, what would be the number of years of experience considered by ACS?

2. Should I apply for Skill Assessment or RPL?

ICT related subjects (as per my opinion) in my B.E. course (total subjects - 70):
Mathematics 1
Mathematics 2
Introductory Programming
Signals and Systems
Network theory
probability theory and random processes
Introduction to Microprocessors
Data Structures and Algorithms
Communication Techniques
Microprocessor interfacing and PC
Digital Signal processing
Statistical theory of communication
Computer Communication
Digital Communications
Satellite communication systems
Business Management
Unix and Network Programming
Mobile Communication
Error detecting and correcting codes

Subjects in my M.S. (Distance learning (i.e. correspondence course) - 2 years) course:
Obj Oriented programming
Data Structures and Algorithm Analysis
Database design and applications
Technical communication
Real Time Systems
OOAD
Advanced Operating Systems
Network Programming
Pervasive Computing
S/W Engg and Management

3. Would I fall under Group A or Group B (in case of skill assessment)?

Thanks a lot for your time and assistance!

Siva.

Hi Siva,

Because of your education you would need 6 years IT experience if you applied via the RPL. If your education was sufficient for the skills assessment, then you would only need 4 years IT experience.

I'm not best placed to judge your education though, although I think you'd have a chance at the skills assessment with those qualifications. If in doubt, then the RPL will always give you a better chance of success because you're able to sell yourself better that way! It's more work though....

Generally RPL's will fall into Group B, but if you were to pass the skills assessment directly then you should get into Group A. Personally I don't think it's overly important which group you're assessed under.

Best of luck whatever you decide,
Dazz

Hi,

Thanks a lot for your input.

- So, I understand that my current years of experience (i.e. 6 years) is sufficient to apply for RPL (as I have a B.E. qualification). Am I right?

- If anybody would be able to answer question 2 above, it would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Siva.
