RPL - Applyng for Network Security - Questions ??

Hi guys. (sorry, but my english is not so good, i'm studyng english yet)

I'm new here in this forum! Fantastic this, tks to guy who had this idea!

I would like some advices of you.

Well...

Name: Carlos Santini
Experience in IT: since July 1998
Age: 25

In this more than years i worked just for 2 companies, where as full time job, one from july 1998 to January 2008, and the last one from February 2008 to October 2008.

Now, I'm applyng to RPL (Network Security) and just few words to finish my RPL and my 2 projects.

Some questions that i'm afraid...

1) I didn't finish my Bachelor in Brasil, i just finish 2 years from 2years and half, but can i use my learned references to write my RPL, like, disciplines that i studied and books that i used in my university?

2) I don't had the opportunity to get any certification like MCSA, MCSE, CCNA... do u think that this will be a problem ?

3) My deadline to apply to DIAC is end of October 2009 (October 2008, date that i stoped to work and travelled to australia to study english), because my work experience (last 2 years before apply to DIAC, 1 year working full time) will expire in this date. Do u think that 4 months starting now will be suficient to apply ?

4) If i apply to some state that will sponsor me, the process can be faster ?

So.. for while that's it! :D

Tks for all that can helpe me. And Good luck for all that are in the same boat like me!

Hi Santini,

In answer to your questions..............
1) The RPL is about learnings, so you should include all learnings, even if you didn't pass in the subjects. As long as you learnt from them, you should mention them.

2) It's all about learnings, so the qualifications aren't important.

3) I've no idea, but if you're referring to applying to DIAC then you'll need to have passed the ACS assessment before you apply. That can take a while, so the 4 months limit is achievable, but will be down to how quickly you're ready to respond once you pass (assuming you do) the ACS assessment.

4) The process for state sponsorship may be faster to get a visa, but your deadline for applying to the DIAC will still be the same.

Best of luck,
Dazz
