Anybody have any favorites (preferably not too high in fat and calories) that satisfy a craving for salty, crunchy snacking with maybe a touch of sweet?
I've been a pretzle fiend for quite some time, but I'm finding that it's not doing it for me lately. I want something else but I can't put my finger on what. I think a bit of chocolate might be in order, but I still like my snacking to be primarily crunchy & salty... Any ideas?

I do that with the kids when we go hiking or out on the boat. It varies depending on what is in my pantry. Sometimes peanuts, M&Ms, banana chips, raisens, sunflower seeds, craisens (dried cranberries), baking chips, pretzels, just about anything can be tossed in there. It holds up well on a hike and takes care of both the salty & sweet cravings.
and Shawn is right, you can toss just about anything in! My kids love nuts of all types, cereal, pretzel sticks, dried fruit, gummies, marshmellows, small chocolates (depending on how hot is is outside), ect. A small amount of sweets and an equal mix of crunchies and fruit seems to please all of us. In fact, when we are going hiking or on a day outing, the kids rush to make up the bags of monkey mix!
The kids love snack mixes, so I think they'd enjoy a trail mix, too and I could share it with them. Of course, if I know my guys, they'd pick out all of the chocolate and avoid the raisins...
It never sounds good, but once I make a bag, ohhhh, yum! And apples with peanut butter is another crunchy favorite. Nuts of all types, but especially pistochios. I LOVE pistochios. Not much sweet in any of those, but lots of crunch. If I'm going for sweet, it has to be chocolate! Raw cookie is the best!!!!!
My favorite snack lately is cheddar cheese and granny smith apples. Yum!

I haven't bought those in a while - I should put them on my shopping list.

I should also get back into the habit of slicing up apples for the boys - I end up eating as many slices (ok, MORE) as they do! I like dipping them in pb, too. Or sprinkling lemon juice & cinnamon-sugar on top. Ok. Apples are going on the shopping list, too

My family loves when I bring it to gatherings with apples. Yum! If you run out of ideas, there are always Cheetos
