Martha Stewart this morning

I actually got the tv to myself today - when the kids are home, they usually choose what we watch, and when they're in school, I usually keep the tv off and listen to music - I'm more productive that way. But today, I've got a cold and I just want to relax a bit. So, the bus came to get A, I dropped E off at preschool, went to the post office to check my PO box, went to the best bagel place ever to get myself a cream cheese sandwich and a coffee, went home, turned on the tv, grabbed my laptop and the breakfast I bought, and kicked back on the couch. And here I still am

I hear you saying to yourself, "ok, Lis, get to the point, will ya?"

Alright. I'm watching Martha Stewart and she had a list of the 6 things you should do every day:

(darn, I was just going to link to her website but they're not on there! now I have to remember them. let's see...)

1. Make the bed
2. Manage the clutter
3. Sort the mail
4. Clean as you cook
5. Clean up spills when they happen
6. Sweep the kitchen floor

That's them.

Do you agree? Is there anything that you feel you need to do every day in order to keep things under control in your home?

Lisa

Do a load of laundry

November 1 2006, 10:34 AM

If I don't do a load a day it quickly gets out of control. After 10 years of having a "laundry day" where I (theoretically) did all of the loads at once, I finally had an "a ha!" moment last year when FlyLady suggested a load a day. That was a foreign concept to me, but I will never go back to doing it the other way.

I throw a load in the washer immediately after my shower, move it to the dryer right after DS#1 gets on the bus, and then folkd & put away whenever I think of it (sometimes the next morning when I need the dryer again but at least it gets done!)

I do two loads a day,

and take the weekends off. I stay caught up that way. I, too, used to have "laundry day." I came to HATE that day. It kind of tied me to the house because I had to keep it all going, and then I never wanted to put all those stacks of clothes away.

As far as what I do everyday, I agree with the list. I usually go thru every room in the house once per day and pick up all the "stuff." I just spend a few minutes in each room and it really makes a difference. It's obvious when I'm sick and don't do it - things pile up fast.

Yeah, it's dangerous around here for me to get sick...

or lethargic, LOL!

When I do get into the habit of cleaning up a little bit a day, it really makes such a big difference. I don't know why I can't remember that on the days I feel completely unmotivated...

But, alas, I have been dragging the ground lately, not even close to flying.

I hear ya!

I've been trying to get back into it, but it's just not happening. I really wonder why I can't seem to get back on the wagon. It's not as if I haven't seen spectacular results when I was flying. I know it would really benefit our lifestyle around here, but I just feel so darn sluggish and lazy.

I have been doing a few of the Christmas missions - I'm not likely to be done by December 1st, but I may manage to finish earlier than usual at least, and that's something
