That reminds me, I haven't updated the mix in a week! I'm usually a lot more on-top-of-it than that. I'll have to try and do it today.
I have Limewire, but I don't use it often. The Limewire software is perfectly legal to have. How you use it may not be. If you use it to download music that you haven't paid for, then it's illegal. I mostly use it to download songs that I had on vinyl or cassette (or on a CD I don't feel like looking for). I figure I paid for them once and I shouldn't have to pay to get them in a new format. I don't know if that will hold water in court, but it works for me, morally

I also use it when I am looking to fit a particular theme. Like last November when I wanted to play Thanksgiving music, I downloaded any song I could find with "thanks" in the title. At least half of them I listened to and promptly deleted because I didn't like them. The ones I did like, inspired me to look for other music by those artists and they made money off of me eventually. Again, not a great legal argument... I don;t think viruses are an issue if you are careful about what you download (and you have a good virus scanner as backup just in case). I honestly hadn't thought about the virus issue...
I still mostly buy traditional CDs, but if I do feel like downloading music I go to iTunes or one of the other sites that charges a per-song rate but no subscription fee. Sometimes if you go straight to an artist's web page, they are selling their songs directly as downloads. I like to do that when I can because more money goes into the artist's pocket that way.
Hope this helps!
