Fun with Dye

I did something today I've been wanting to try for ages - I took a pile of white clothes and dyed them! I will post some pictures of what I'm up to with them tomorrow. For now, here is the one finished product of the bunch:

BEFORE:

AFTER:

INGREDIENTS:
Bucket hat from Oriental Trading Company (not sure if it's adult or child size - the adult ones shrunk in the wash and now they're all the same size!)
Procion dye from Dharma Trading Company (I used Black - on this hat's fabric, it ended up looking more like faded denim)
Soda Ash Fixer
An old square of fabric, cut into an initial
Embroidery floss and a needle

PROCEDURE:
Dye the hat following instructions provided with the dye. Wash & dry hat. Hand-stitch the initial onto the front of the hat, slightly off-center. Give it to one of your favorite kids.

Thanks! That was a spur-of-the-moment craft.

I'm happy with it, too.

What I'm really excited about is the skirt I'm making with images from a booklet Aidan made me for Mother's Day. I haven't gotten very far with that one yet, though.
