The Aces not only had to compete against good players and a good coaching staff to be successful in that final series, but that job was more difficult because of the play of Paddy Campbell. He is one of the best goalies (if not the best) currently playing, at getting to loose balls and moving it up the floor. It puts tremendous pressure on both your offense to get off the floor and your defense to get back - it's tough to defend. (our guy Ryan Avery was pretty good at this too in the series) I don't know Paddy very well personally except to say that I have never seen him without a smile and is always respectful to anyone he is around. I also know him to be great competitor and teammate and he could play for me any time. Just a perspective from a coach.

John, if that post is really you (you never know), thanks for a great post. Congratulations on winning an Ontario title in your first crack. Tonight we had a team get together, we all would have rather be playing game 5 but the point is 14 guys got together and had a few pops including of course Paddy Campbell. He is the greatest team player I have ever seen and if you or anyone else gets the chance to coach him, do it, you'll have no regrets. Also have some info on hotels out west, email me at this address [email protected] if you guys haven't already booked (or can get out of it) and want to save some money. Again congratulations and good luck out west.

Would you guys quit breaking your arms patting Campbell on the back, christ they lost the series. Don't post back on here that oh but he's such a nice guy blah ba blah ba blah, god we've heard it all. Enough is enough.

When will it finally be posted? And on a side note why are the videocasts so expensive. I beg the question how expensive are tourney passes? I mean if one wants to watch all of the games it will cost him roughly $125 on a computer.

First off congrats to all the teams, Good luck Aces at the Presidents.
On September 16th, the second Jordan Moxam Memorial Golf Classic will be held at Crosswinds Golf & Country Club.
Proceeds from this event will be used to help underprivileged children participate in lacrosse & hockey by providing them with equipment.
Last years Golf Classic raised $10,000 and provided a number of children an opportunity to participate who would otherwise been unable to do so because of a lack of finances.

Just want to say congratulations to the Wellington Aces on their first senior B title. You have a great team there and will only get better with age.
On the other hand...
I want to congratulate the A-P Rock as well, you guys played just as hard as Wellington and night in/night out you battled the other team and the referees.
Now that the season is over I've heard rumour that A-P will apply to the major series for next year, can anyone confirm this?
Posted on Aug 14, 2006, 11:11 AM from IP address 24.150.39.112
Congrats to the Aces. You played well and deserve the shot out west. To the Rock, man it was a tough series... too bad a team has to lose. You have a great team.
To all of the teams (Players, Coaches, Staff, GMs and fans)in Sr B, you are some of the greatest people around and you made this past season fun for this old lacrosse guy. You are ALL winners in my book.
To our fellas in St Clair... hang in there, it will get better. I am proud of you.

I think Ajax should be looking for a new head coach after all the talent they had on each team for the last two years and no title. It is hard to win when you do not have the right coach in place. Ajax did not lost to Wellington on talent they where simply out coached.
It does not matter how many pro guys you bring in, if players to not get motivated by there coach or respect him.
I would not be surprised if Ajax has a new coach & GM next year, especially if they want to compete on the major level.

.If your going to chirp about a guy who is one of the most decorated players in the game of lacrosse you should learn to spell . (ajax didn't LOSE to Wellington) Sure he's got a bad temper, but the game he loves still burns in his guts. Stop blaming the coach for our loss, he cant score the goals. By the way ,,,, having lots of pro's really helps, just ask the ACES.

Hey durhamlaxxer where are you getting all your info from? No one has mentioned about AP going Major, where does that come from? FYI Wellington has at least 4 or 5 pros plus a couple of ex-pros. They have a nucleus of players that played together for the great Elora Junior B program, and they have an ex Pro coach who coached with the great Terry Sanderson and won a NLL title. Does that not count for something. St. John didn't get out coached, we lost to a team that was a little bit better than us, and crappy refereeing LOL. If St. John is finished as head coach or should be finished as head coach than why don't you send in your resume to the owner Rob Roche at [email protected] Or if you can't put yourself to the task than why don't you recommend someone better qualified.

The Aces have been in it from the beginning and it is nice to finally be in it at the end. Go to New West and make everyone proud.
Thanks also to everyone in the Senior B league and all of its fans. It has been an excellent season with one of the closest finishes in its history. Every organization has put a quality product on the floor and the fans not coming out to watch are truly missing out.

We couldn't have asked for a better last game in this series. Had to come from behind to win. The Aces goalie needs due credit, with the pressure of the game, the heat, and us yelling at him everytime he let one in.The great ajax goalie with the same pressures let more balls in.Note that roadie.Congrats to the rest of the guys and their support people. Good luck over the mountains.

I know the difference between winning and loosing is not far from the difference between living and dying. The fact I couldn't do it for my team was not my choice, the reason you point me out as an individual is merely because you don't know the hell an athlete finds himself in when he lets his team down. If you knew me and if you knew the will I have to fight and die for the men I look in the eyes before our battle...well you might come close to understanding the game we love, the sport that defines.... the inches we fight for and the pain I feel.

Earlier this season, Pat spoke up when Dean Harrison was being unjustly slagged on these forums, it's time for someone to do the same for him. Pat was not the reason his team lost, he was the reason his team had a chance. The matchup of the Aces versus the Rock was the worst possible scenario for that team. The Aces ball movement and speed was the antidote for the Rock's physical presence and hardnosed play. Our defence was stifling and with players like Marshall and Codd, loose balls almost didn't exist while fast breaks were common. Toss in a stellar trio of goaltenders and it was a winning formula. As far as shooters, we had some of the best in the loop.
Even still, Paddy made us work for every one. There were no easy goals in this series. Taking a shot on offence even seemed like a risk since we had to hustle our defence on the floor since a Campbell pass was sure to find a Rock stick far down the floor. As far as I could see, he conducted himself with class throughout the series and the season. What more can you possibly ask from a goaltender?
Great series, Paddy, it was a pleasure to watch you.

First...congratulations to the Wellington Aces. You are a worthy champion for this league where the teams become closer & closer every year. John Lovell & his coaching staff truly made this group of fine lacrosse players a team.
And thanks to AcesSr for sticking up for one of the finest men in the game. Pat Campbell is one of the reasons the Rock accomplished what we did this season, and not just with his play on the floor. Anyone who watched him play can attest to the heart that was part of every game he plays. This is a man who thinks nothing of congratulating a guy on a nice goal scored on him. Or laughing at himself when he scores on himself. Or helping up an opposing player who just ran into him. Always the first to apologize for letting his teammates done (which is the way he saw it) a man who always gave credit where it was due, even if it was to the player who scored the game winner on him.
But the "gifts" he brought to this team went far beyond his game. This team has a number of "helpers" who have various challenges in life. I suspect that they have taken their share of abuse because of it. Paddy saw, better than many of his teammates, what these guys brought to this team and found a way to help all of us appreciate these "gifts" just a little more.
Of all the men on this team, Paddy is the one who has the very least to apologize for and I would be happy to respond, in person, to anyone who needs further proof of what an extraordinary young man he truly is.

Hey Paddy, just wanted to let you know, although i didn't see the games, and truthfully i didn't need too, we have gone to war together on more than a few occasions and to this day, i can't think of too many other players/friends who i wouyld rather have in my corner, if any. its been a pleasure growing through this fine game with you, keep your chin up, you will be stopping balls and turning heads with your ability and class for many years to come.
looking forward to our next pint.

When I heard Paddy was playing for the ROCK, I was looking forward to Reffing some of there games.
Ho wcan you dis PC, who is probably the most entertaining goalie playing the game today.
For those who have been around for awhile (ie over 35), his style of play harkens back to the day when goalies would leave the crease, lead the attack and where a threat on transition.
Great job.
Paddy, if you have amoment, can you call or email

I have not formally met you but I have coached against you. I am an assistant coach for St Clair Storm. I am also a goalie, dating back to the early 70's.
I traveled from Detroit to Ajax for game 1 and to Fergus for game 2, just to watch you play. I saw the pressure the Aces put on you. I saw one or 2 goals that I know you would want to take back (what goalie wouldn't?)... but for ANYONE to insinuate that you where the reason for the outcome... is too simple. You made some saves that you had no business making. Your team came out flat and you tried to carry them in game 1. It was an uphill battle. I stood behind you and watched some of the screen shots that you faced. You did not yell at your D... who screened you... or the fellas who missed picking up the guys off of the pick and rolls they were running against your team. You talked to them. You led them them in battle.
I went there looking to see a strong goalie battle and got my monies worth.
I came there to watch some good lacrosse. I left there with a new respect for you.
I remember the fire... I remember carrying my old teams on my back... I remember the great responsibility I felt and the heavy heart when I thought I let my team mates down. I know you will not agree with my next statement but I call them as I see them. From what I saw... some of the fellas need to look you in the eye and tell you they are sorry.
Stay strong, hope to see you next season.

Don't ever question Paddy Campbell's play pal, Paddy is a great goalie and ultimate team guy. As you can see by his post's on the forum that he will back himself up, but as you can see by our posts we as a team will back him up as well. To make the comments you do on this forum especially after you won the series shows the little class you have. The original poster of the Avery bashing was a Owen Sound fan who cheered for the Rock after the Aces knocked out his team, he is a big Toronto Rock fan and he has T Rock friends that are associated with our team. He is a fan of game, you I suspect have no clue about lacrosse or life in general, you are also one who should change his handle from Ennron to ******* because that is the way you come across to us here on the forum.

What Roadies Goalie said about Avery was worse than what enron said about Campbell. Why did you not speak up then? He didn't stoop to the infantile level of your post. The goalies on both sides played a great series and the game was decided by the players in front of them. Let's leave it at that without the infantile, internet tough guy namecalling.

in all honesty, this was a great series, and i think it was such a great series because of paddy and avery they played amazing each game and thats why it was so entertaining
Posted on Aug 14, 2006, 1:29 PM from IP address 65.95.235.28
I was just sticking up for Paddy. Roadiesgoalie has nothing to do with our team and his post was a personal slam against Avery and had nothing to do with Paddy or the Ajax-Pickering Rock. I personally thought Avery was every the bit as valuable to you as Paddy was to us, again I was just sticking up for our guy, Ennron had no reason to slam Paddy, especially after the series is over.
Posted on Aug 14, 2006, 1:40 PM from IP address 69.158.63.136
Personal slam my ass!!! WTF?? I've seen Avery play in all 3 sizes of box nets and the guy is just not that good. I hope Senior B does go to the Major size nets, and you'll see the pretenders separated from the contenders. We'll see how many of these "4'X 4' stars" make the grade, Avery included.
Posted on Aug 14, 2006, 10:35 PM from IP address 72.59.54.242
Roadiesgoalies, your right, I was trying to be politically correct when I said I was sorry and I was sticking up for Paddy. After finding out that ennron is just a jerk and trying to stir things up here on the forum (see the post about him and olanomind being the same person), my apology has been retracted. Ennron probably is an Aces player or volunteer who doesn't have the balls to admit it. All of his posts have been slamming towards the AP Rock. I am associated with the Rock in a volunteer capacity and I've seen Avery play and your right, let's see how he does in the big nets. I will admit it though Avery did play very well against us but that was in a smaller net with some real poor shooters (sorry boys but that's a fact).
Posted on Aug 15, 2006, 9:29 AM from IP address 69.158.63.136
Noone likes to lose but slamming a good guy or teamate saying he is not good is not right. Give the Aces and Avery there do. I did not say Chugger was garbage when KW beat us last year. Give respect to everybody including PC that it was a good series end of discussion.
Posted on Aug 15, 2006, 10:47 PM from IP address 69.157.13.154
That is my point Avery must of played well you do not beat good teams without goaltending. Chugger is definetly one of the best. Avery is young and coming. We will all see.
Posted on Aug 16, 2006, 12:53 PM from IP address 130.113.117.231
"Ennron probably is an Aces player or volunteer who doesn't have the balls to admit it"
No. Look at all the boards, his posts are all over the place. Being as one of you has said that you are with the team and then slammed his own shooters.
"I am associated with the Rock in a volunteer capacity "
"Avery did play very well against us but that was in a smaller net with some real poor shooters (sorry boys but that's a fact)."
If you can get angry with people who say negative things about one of your players and then go and insult several of them yourself, what does that say about you as a person?
All posts on this board from Aces players, staff or executive have been complimentary to a very strong and deserving Ajax-Pickering Rock team. We give credit where credit is due. As far as pros on our team, other than Avery (Burlington) who we obtained through our affiliation with the Kodiaks, they are all local boys within 20 minutes of our centres and as far as Avery is concerned, I am quite happy with his play and with our chances with him in net. Just as I am comfortable with McManus and Agar. This is a great team, built well within the rules of the league and without any underhanded dealings. It is a group of guys who are so dedicated to this team that they play without getting any equipment from us, often drive themselves to games with no compensation and are paying many of their own expenses for their trip to New Westminster.
If anyone else wants to say anything negative about us, please have the balls to leave your name as well. Rob Roche and Paul St John have built a very good team and when I have had anything negative to say about them, I have done it to their faces across the table in the meeting rooms. Do us and all other teams the same courtesy.

first of all were have you seen me play in the NLL, during warm -ups?... come on now that doesnt care much credibility as a game.. and for the wait and see part about my ability in the bigger nets, it is a wait and see sort of thing, i know i can play in the bigger nets but it is still going to be a learning experience, so why dont you wait and see before you call some overrated.....
Posted on Aug 15, 2006, 10:25 PM from IP address 207.210.5.238
I wouldn't have let Palidwor go who's won an NLL championship. Sorry, but from a fan's perspective, Silcott made a bad move. If you do develop into an NLL calibre 'tender, then i'm man enough to eat my words.
BTW, I watched you numerous times in Buffalo, and you seemed to be having a problem in the 4'X 4'9" s. You had the right mentor in Chugger.
Posted on Aug 16, 2006, 10:43 AM from IP address 72.59.54.242
I understand that is your opinon... now here is mine.
I have studied Mr Avery very closely for a while now. He is a strong tender. He is fundamentally sound and is well composed. He has the skills to play in a larger net. I have seen him over move in the smaller net (as if moving in a bigger net). He made some great saves playing against us. I know he can play in the bigger net.
Every tender must prove themselves. Every tender must get used to the bigger nets. It is a harder adjustment than it looks. Just ask Dallas. The mental makeup of a tender is what makes them a star. Some tenders progress quickly and look like they were born into it. Some have had to really work at it. Some just never make it to the bigger net. Is that to be a cause of shame? Playing is playing. If you are not a pro tender... you ain't crap? I don't think so.
I would be interested in your technical breakdown of Mr Averys play. Not just a simple "he didn't move well"... tell us why. Tell us what specificly needs to be worked on. Tell us what will keep him from improving in the coming years. Please educate us where his play is flawed.
I also hope we go to the larger nets next year... then maybe you can come out and show us how it should be done. If you would like, I can hold open a tryout spot for you for next year.
Posted on Aug 16, 2006, 5:20 PM from IP address 207.69.139.13
Perhaps if you actually read my posts earlier, I'm 45 years old, a wannabe goalie, and i'm seeing things from a fan's perspective. I'm not looking for any kind of tryout, anywhere. The Aces wins were because of their speed and not because of stellar goaltending. Avery has to improve stopping shots over the shoulders...JMHO.

As I said over the weekend every team in SR.B has very good goalies no slam to anybody the last 2 teams goalies were playing probably the best. Goalies in SR.B are getting deeper every year. Good luck to the ACES quality team and organization same as the rest of the league including PC AND A-P wish I saw 1 or more of the finals.

Stoop?? infantile??? You just described ennron and yourself. It's just banter between two men with opinions chum. Tough guy internet talk? No. Good luck out west chum. Ps. After the game, the player who lost his stick was outside talking to some people about "those guys were going to break my stick" I personally told him we would NOT do any damage to his equipment, could you say the same if one of the AP ROCK sticks went into your bench?
Posted on Aug 14, 2006, 4:28 PM from IP address 74.118.109.43
I would be very surprised if an opposing player's stick came off our bench in anything but original condition. It is unlkely to be tested as the Aces tend not to take them there in the first place. I am not a player, in case you were under that assumption, but I know the team well. you may also want to take a look at who was the first person was to stand up for Paddy after his post.
Posted on Aug 14, 2006, 5:22 PM from IP address 70.50.209.104
Like I've said to many of the people in this league,Aces and there staff are a class outfit,, I was only ticked at what one of your fans said about Mr. Campbell, and being a member (not a player also) of this awesome AP ROCK franchise I get upset when Peanut gallery people chirp the coolest Irishman on the floor. I also noted the way you stood up for Paddy . You also said at the beginning of the season, "aces will suprise everyone this year" you were right! Again good luck to the ACES out west!
Posted on Aug 14, 2006, 5:39 PM from IP address 74.118.109.43
paddy is their goalie stupid, and they think I cut him up because I said he let more goals in than Avery. He did or we would not be going west, right? I have to write most of this off to loser overreaction. Nomind, please pick up a game sheet as you come in, it has all the names on it.
Posted on Aug 14, 2006, 7:19 PM from IP address 72.140.204.204
Thanx for all the support from both sides. I was probably over sensitive to the post as we had just been crushed by the Aces and I was outplayed severely by Avery. Regardless of that I must say that I am full of hope and excitement for the Aces (especially Avery and Johnny Lovell) to crush the competition out west.
Thanks Gary, Doc, Blainey and everyone else for a fun summer on the floor and on this forum. Let's keep up the chatter and cheer our Eastern representatives on! GO ACES!!!!
Paddy
PS- Note to Enron, please keep on speaking your opinion, it is a free world and we are all grown ups. Just follow the code: "If you plan on mentioning the name of an individual you should complete your login with your full name so the individuals know who they are addressing in their defense." As you've noticed it is a round world, one day we agree and another day we disagree and so on and so on..... What's important is we all have the freedom to voice our views and we respect eachother even in the midst of a heated playoff series and especially in the brink of these forum altercations.
Thanks for giving those who care a reason to speak up (I can't explain to you how flattering it was for AcesSr to jump to my defense before I even could) it turned my frown upside down.
Posted on Aug 14, 2006, 8:31 PM from IP address 24.150.94.209
I will keep speaking my thoughts but we are not all adults, atleast I'm not. To date I don't think I have said a thing about the ajax goalie other than letting more in than Avery in the last game. Both goalies are fine or they wouldn't be playing the game they did Sunday.
Posted on Aug 14, 2006, 8:53 PM from IP address 72.140.204.204
I've had many thoughts about many players. Many I keep to myself as they are not flattering but I would say the same to their faces if the occasion warranted it. As for you, the only bad thing I could think about you until the Dean Harrison posts was your poor taste in sweater colours. I respected the way you approached and played the game. When you spoke up in my captain's defence, you gained a fan and a ton of respect. Now, I'm not about to start a fan club, you still play for the wrong teams, but should we ever run into one another, I'd be happy to sit with you over a cold beverage and discuss our differences of opinions.
Posted on Aug 14, 2006, 10:46 PM from IP address 70.49.9.172
To be honest in the heat of the game I couldn't care less about the health and welfare of the guys I'm playing against. I try to create a painful experiance for them. All I care about are my teammates and doing what I can to help the team out. My point is, when you play with a guy like Paddy you realize that you'd do anything for him as he is a classy guy... on the floor, in the bar it's all the same. So maybe if you want to cut him or any other of my teammates up... please come by and I'll set you straight by the use of my great language skills or my classic wood stick, either way You'll learn.
It's been a pleasure to play lax with you once again Paddy.

I agree one thing I miss is hanging out inside the arena or bar with the guys. People who do not play a team sport don't understand or see how guys really are or how they tick. That is why guys hang on in pro sports. That is why when people slam teamates it hits close to home. Anyway that is why we should all support the Aces now. Goodluck.

Nice try Ennron. You post a message with the login olanomind asking "who the hell is Paddy", and than you answer it with your ennron handle forgetting the login on that name is olanomind as well. To top it off check the IP address, they're the same, therefore ennron really is an olaNOMIND! LOL. Best part is he tries to come off as a kid. Paddy, you owe this idiot no apologizes, he is just a jerk trying to stir things up.

Why wasn't Ryan Avery called for illegal equipment? His arms were over the limit and all the referee did was tell him to pull his sleeves down!! The smirk on his face as he ran back to the net said it all. The refs might as well have been wearing the Aces jerseys. The inconsistency was a joke.
Avery is a very mediocre goalie. I watched him being in warm-ups while he played for Buffalo and he was getting lit up in the NLL 4'X 4'9" nets. He's nothing but a career Senior B goalie. Why the Calgary Roughnecks protected him and let Curtis Palidwor go, is beyond me.
Posted on Aug 13, 2006, 7:58 AM from IP address 72.59.54.242
Jealous of what?? WTF?? I'm 45 years old and I don't have any NLL or Senior B aspirations. I play the game for fun, nothing else. All i'm saying is that Avery is overrated and he got away with cheating which he seemed to be pleased with himself about. Even when I play, I tape myself down because I repect the rules and the sanctity of the Game.
Posted on Aug 13, 2006, 11:23 AM from IP address 72.59.54.242
Well roadies if your 45 and still playing for fun you are in no position to rate anybody. Avery was rated by enough qualified eyes to be where he is but you huff and puff all you want if it makes you feel important.
Posted on Aug 13, 2006, 11:37 AM from IP address 72.140.204.204
Hey, I know what I see from watching Avery the past three years, and there are better 'tenders out there. He's overrated, the bottom line. If the Aces win, it won't be because of him. If A-P wins, it will be for thew most part because of Paddy.

Talk about brutal, if you have never played at a high level or coached what credentials do you have? That is like me saying Harrison and Veltman etc. are not very good players. Just sour grapes I'm 35 and didn't make pro so I think I will whine about that.
Posted on Aug 13, 2006, 12:28 PM from IP address 69.157.15.102
Read my post, Gumby. I'm not whining about never making it to a higher level of lax. I have a good friend who's an NLL scout and has coached, and he never played the game for fun until his late 20's-early 30's. I'm not a wannabe goalie, coach, scout, etc. I just know what I see from a fan's perspective.

Last Night For The Most Part was all the goalies paddy campbell played amazing and thats why AP won, i guess if avery was illegal it changes the fact a bit, but he still played amazing, this game had to be the worst refed game i have ever seen though, they;d call moving picks on wellington and not on ajax then they'd call holds ajax and not wellington not to mention throwing players into the doors and full force slashes behind the play, i like the rough stuff and as long as it gets called both ways its ok but this was jus brutal refing

Just stating facts the best goalies in Lacrosse are all in there late 20's or 30's. For example Chugger , Watson, etc. The best in SeniorB was as I was told PC by the way no relation lucky for him. My point is Avery , Paterson ,and McCullogh sorry about the spelling are the young guys coming. These guys I think will be the top goalies in the future just my opion.

Sometimes I just think of Ontario played with Mang's brother. Amazing these guys like Veltman have little to no drop off in terms of play. Mang was great last year in the President's.

Last nite looked like the toughest game yet for the Aces. Ajax ended up behind you staring down a lonely goalie because somebody wasn't watching their man.You can do better because you already did better twice.Long shots can get past their goalie too, try it.Good luck in Elora.

Just thought I'd mention since I was at the game last night the, again, bias refereeeing job against the AP Rock.
PP
Wellington 3 for 7
AP 0 for 0????
Add in an empty net goal for Wellington and without the referee's it's a 3-3 game. I'm not trying to take away from Wellington's win, they earned it. Favero scored two long shots that were nice but should be stopped and Foley on a pick and roll were the only 5 on 5 goals for Wellington.
Posted on Aug 11, 2006, 10:35 AM from IP address 24.150.39.112
I was also at the game last night. The refs actually did a very good job I thought. Ajax started to get stupid at the end and deserved every penalty they got. The Aces played smart and hard throughout the whole 60 minutes and deserve the win. Hopefully they do it again next game and it will be over.
Posted on Aug 11, 2006, 11:53 AM from IP address 205.188.117.11
Wellington is outplaying the Rock, no question about it, the Aces have put together a real good team that looks like it may sweep and that is not something alot of lacrosse fanatics could have seen happening before the series started. That being said the earlier post about the refereeing is bang on. The Rock did not get a power play last night and that also is almost unheard of. Watson and Spies should have just put on Aces jersey's because every call that was a call went against the Rock including a brutal call on O'Brien just 2 minutes into the game that lead to the all important 1st goal of the game. No way, with the way they let things go that O'Brien's hit even gets looked at if Spies wasn't partial to the Aces, same goes for Watson. The Aces are playing real well and this is not a Rock supporter whinning, I'm just stating a fact. Right now the Aces are the better team and unless the Rock scores some first period goals they will be the team checking the President's Cup scores on the internet. You can't win by scoring just 3 goals in a game.
Come on Rock, getting Rolling, time to show up, shut up and play Rock lacrosse!

So what happened tonight 7-3 sounded like a god game from what Ron posted ealier tonight. Did the Aces just have too much speed or did Avery stand on his head. I missed everything as I had to work someone fill me in
Posted on Aug 10, 2006, 11:34 PM from IP address 64.7.152.210
The Aces got an early start with a goal by Kasey Biernes at 17:07. Both teams played tight defence, leading to only two other goals in the first by Tony Henderson at 17:08 and John Foley at 4:07.(This makes the first period score 2-1, sorry for the bad info, Ron.)
The second period started faster than the first with Dean Harrison scoring 42 seconds in. Both teams ended up with 2 goals in this frame, Arthur's second from Brad Favero at 10:27 and AP's from Mark Craig at 12:58 and Mike Daley at 11:48.
The third period showcased the Aces defence as they held the Rock scoreless while the offence netted three of their own. Brad Favero with his second at 7:57, Travis Gault at 3:27 on a feed from Rob Marshall as they raced Pat Campbell back to his net and Steve Jennings with the final goal at :51.
Penalties were a factor in this game as the Aces racked up 6 minutes to the Rock's 20.

If the Aces can maintain that blue barricade around their net and the attack boys persist with the relentless vollies of shots I will be correct soon. Aces in 3.

Is it just me, or is the Ajax crowd very quiet after game one. Can't wait to see the game on thursday night, Good luck to both teams. Hopefully the Aces win though!!!!!!!
Posted on Aug 9, 2006, 6:43 PM from IP address 205.188.117.11
I don't think that the game quieted the crowd, if your looking for all the trash talk and bull**** postings like the last series between Ajax and Brooklin you will probably be waiting a while. There is nothing to bitch about, good game one by both teams, tight race, may the better team win it all.
I'm cheering for Ajax though, can't be an Aces supporter, they knocked off Owen Sound.
Posted on Aug 9, 2006, 9:36 PM from IP address 24.141.230.154
The Aces intend to win the second game too. The tenacious defense they have developed will limit any potential scorers to trying their luck from the blue line. Wait and see.

Your right about some of the Stars management,in an earlier post.I (Junker) is still trying to figure out what happen to me as head coach, starting last year season with a 7-1 record and then got demoted to be an assistance and then we went in to a funk ever since then, even into this season. So you tell me what did happen and for the record I did care. Also Derek I must of missed a few meetings too,on why I got demoted. With the team we had this year,we should never be where we are, watching. And everyone knows where and why you go in the direction you go in,its starts with the head coach and you can't mend a season with just 2 games. So teams beware for next season, the STARS will be back in search of the President Cup.Also good luck to the Woodies next year in hosting the P.C.
Posted on Aug 8, 2006, 6:56 PM from IP address 24.215.57.7
Hey Junk I only knew you were demoted whatever, last year well after the fact. You are right on paper this years team should have been better. Although the team was thrown together late not enough time for team building. Also playing a young good team like Brooklin didn't help.

The only time I actually noticed the 30 second clock was when it never ran at all during a Wellington possession.
As far as the game goes, Wellington came out firing, rolling on their emotional win the night before. Ajax didn't do a good job of stemming the tide but they did shut it down the next two periods and figured out somewhat how to play offence against Wellington's stingy defence. Ajax had two opportuinities 6 on 5 to tie the game, first Daley missed then Craig missed.
This series will probably go the distance and it will be very physical and nasty by the end. Best of luck to both teams.

the names of Tapp and Plunket in the Woodies lineup. Were they both injured ?
With Tapps faceoff skills and Plunket`s tenacity and ability to make things happen could they have been the differnce between a win and a loss for Owen Sound?
Congrats to the Aces though. Good luck in the finals boys.

Could it be possible that the Arrows have the same attitude as last years Mohawk Stars management, and owner did, it went something like this ..... "we don''t care about the provincial title we only want the cup" ... and all they did is play crappy and when it was time for the cup they were used of playing crappy so they ended up with neither title. Hope the Arrows realize that they can't get in a funk now with the minto just around the corner. At least their management won't stand for that, let alone start it! Then again there was alot of things the Stars don't care about, it all starts with sound management that is commited, and they definitly do not have that there any where on the STARS, except for the merchandise girls.

I remember this came up last year I never knew of us throwing anything. Also we lost out by 1 goal from going to the semis at the President's. Not too bad for a team throwing games. Being from Hamilton I did enough losing for 10 guys and would not hold back especially when I retired right after the season.

the aces only wish that they had a guy with the heart and fists that owen sound has in number 6.luckless as u call him is lb for lb the toughest, unlike the guy that wears the 'c' for the aces that is a big coward, any guy that wears the 'c' will go to the wall for his team not run and try to hide.

The C for the Aces has a wife and kids to feed as well as play lax. When I hear someone describe a goon's heart and fists and nothing about his lacrosse ability it tells me something. If we can't beat you we'll beat you up.

nobody said anything about a goon going after your 'c' i'm talking about number 11 for owen sound who also has a wife and kids but u don't see him going around spearing other players and then heading for the hills. as for number 6 he does the job that he made the club for as well he will get u a goal or two.

Sorry guys (Ron and Blaney) I have been off the network for a bit and working really late.
Man am I ever glad about two things:
1) Mel Gibson's heart felt apology (I was intitially convinced that Braveheart was an anti-semite bast#&$d,-what a relief he is not!)
2) Owen Sound and Wellington kicking the s@$*t out of eachother for a few more games before the winner meets us (AP Rock)
Anyhow, golfing with Clarky today....gotta run.
