Back Yard Dwellers

-
by Kim Edwards.

In 1964, a doctor has to deliver his own twins, due to a snowstorm. A healthy son is born, followed by a daughter. The father immediately recognizes that she has Down's Syndrome, and asks his nurse to take her away to an institution. He tells his wife that she was stillborn. The nurse ends up leaving town and raising the girl as her own. The book follows their lives for the next 25 years or so.

This was one of those books where the characters become so real, you don't want it to end.

It's on my list of books to read - I saw it at Target around Christmas *m

and thought it looked quite good, but decided to wait until I can buy it for less at Costco.

Glad you liked it - bet I will, too!

I've saved so much money since I finally started making use of our local library!

A good idea for sure, however...

Our library is not exactly current here on the island, so it will be a while before it arrives on the shelves here!

We get our movies 4 to 6 weeks after they come out as well, but that's fine 'cause it's a whole lot cheaper to see them! (Our local theatre charges $5 for adults and $3 for kids - bag of popcorn is $1, pop is $1, candy is 75 cents!

I really should utilize the library a lot more than I do, though. Thanks for the reminder!

Cheers, Molly
