Well, I have a business idea...tell me what you think.(m)

I have been toying around with the idea of making the keepsake frames that I made for several family members at their weddings. They are made of a frame, and are matted with whatever cloth I deem suitable, a little batting, and a lot of imagination. I am in the middle of making one right now for my brother. His will be very simple, white satin batting, red and black ribbon roses and ribbons, one big oval for a full-length pic of he and his bride, and right next to it, his wedding invitation. At his wedding reception, he will be presented with it as the very first pictures from his wedding.

I have done a lot of these and each one is different. I can do kids, pets, weddings, anniversaries, etc. The possibilities are endless, and I can make a decent profit on them too. Personalized stuff is so neat and keepsakes are much neater.

I'm thinking of setting up my site, because I have already saved pics of the keepsakes I have already done, and can use them as models. Customized orders can be easily set up with digital media and email, etc. And, thanks to PayPal, I can set up a pretty handy payment system.

What do you think, can I do this? Would it sell? Would it last?

Love,
Tori

Sounds like a neat idea.

I think things that can be personalized are very popular. I know I was always very busy at Christmas when I made personalized ornaments. Have you tried looking through Google for some things similar to what you want to do, and see how they set up their site, what they charge, etc? It's always handy to get some ideas like that.

Oh, and when you're first starting out, it might help to list a few auctions on eBay and get your name out there. I sold an awful lot that way until my website was able to generate enough of its own traffic not to need eBay anymore.

Good luck - sounds like a neat venture! You should post a few pictures in the Craft Room. I'd love to see them.

Just curious how it's going!
